If you don't play Greatsword, barioth's gear is of no use in the current meta.

I soloed every monster on my first try, no mantles or anything.
Replayed the game with no armor and Lance only, got stuck for 2 hours on Nergigante.
Did you know he has like 5 moves that are OHKOs? Some that kill you straight through a block and all which kill you through a counter? Now that's fucking hardcore. Too bad you casuals won't get to enjoy it...

Basic Kjarr Ice set with 5 pieces of Safi, I slotted in some comfort though, blight resistance 3 is a must and I'm I used health boost 3 still.

Just stick to the legs, they take more elemental damage anyways. Use sixfold demon slash to punish most of his openings if you don't have time for blade dance.

He's slower I think? His main strategy is to freeze the ground beneath you with his breath to make you stagger. Then he shit out an attack that deals 70% of your life. Kinda annoying because you can't block the frozen ground.

Stick with 2 and gem in Coalescence. In a pinch you can always have a mantle with the third point slotted in for instant Coal trigger.

It works well if you can get like 900+ dragon element, at which point it performs similarly to 500 fire or ice but during every phase. If you can’t get that much dragon element then you’re better off with fire or ice to exploit the weak phases.

Because people are scared of him. Black dragons are basically the devil in a lot of cultures in the MH world, so a black dragon that can control every element, is much stronger than other dragons (which are already sometimes revered as gods) and makes the entire area around it uninhabitable is bad juju and some people would rather live in ignorant bliss than accept the fact that humanity is basically fucked in the long term while Alatreons still exist.
