There is nothing "canon" that occurred in the first RE. The only thing cemented is that there was a Mansion in the woods, Barry, Jill, Chris and Rebecca explored it, and Wesker backstabbed them all. The original games barely have a coherent line of canon events from all the choices that can be made. Especially RE2. Even if they strictly follow REmake 1, 2 and 3's story from now on, nothing in those game invalidates 4, 5 and 6 from occurring. All 3 of the Remakes are a retelling of the same basic stories. REmake 2 and 3 reinforces Chris and Jill's obsession in hunting down the remnants of Umbrella.

I like the Idea that i Saw on a vídeo long ago,that the Canon order was Jill bipassing all the main Doors of the mansion with the lockpick until the lab,got betrayed by Barry+Wesker and get throw in a Cell while Chris was knocked out by the Giant Snake Poison and being take Care by Rebecca.
