I fucking hate objectivists

>Libertarian: "for the first time ever i read a book"

It shows.

ayn rand is objective proof that women should stay in the fucking kitchen

>Plays Bioshock
>Becomes Libertarian
This is The Boss's Will interpretation levels of stupid

No. You'd have to be extremely poorly read.

Death Stranding

I learned what an Odradek is and spent hours contemplating how practically everything people do in life is some form of cope.

I recently took a Philosophy class, and I was surprised to see the professor say that many past students said they were introduced to Ayn Rand by Bioshock. I'm interested on getting my hands on The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged now, even though I know I'll probably disagree with many of Rand's beliefs.

After playing infinite I wanted to end all life for allowing such a game to exist

He didn't say it was bioshock's presentation of Ayn Rand that convinced him to be a libertarian, just that it introduced him to Ayn Rand my dude

spbp

I understand you might be autistic and don't understand that brevity adds to comedy but the fact that you think a regularly developed brain can sit through the messages of Bioshock 1 and come out Libertarian is fucking astounding

the fountainhead is a story not philosophical lesson
there's almost nothing to disagree with since the story is designed to prove the author's point regardless of the reader's stance on anything

The key is to be able to thrive in your environment instead of having to cope with it.

Many people dont realize this. Then again, ayn rand fans arent precisely smart

The idea of thriving in an environment itself is peak cope. You'd understand if you knew the nature of the Odradek. I'm not even saying cope is a bad thing, actually it's an evolutionary trait that benefits us.

when you realize every critique levied against libertarianism in bioshock is a flimsy strawman that doesn't make sense under scrutiny it's pretty easy to go "damn if only x had happened, rapture would have been perfect"

>t. video games

Pathologic.
Deus Ex doesn't really change my outlook but every time I replay it I tend to view it a bit differently due to how my outlook on life changes.

Atlas Shrugged is hilarious
My libertarian roommate watched part 3 or something and I could have made a drinking game every time the statists were strawmen and the libertarians made comments about the gold standard

cope, seethe, have sex, dilate, yikes, etc...

Why wouldn't I be an objectivist? Surely the point of it is just you're supposed ot make your own happiness, and from that, a perfect society will form?

I'm not really into this so pls educate me ho ho ho it shows

As a story about how lazy shits ruin overly bureaucratic systems Atlas is great.
As a story about a writer's self insert its fucking awful.

>Bureaucracy bad
Bruh thats like saying having to write stuff down is bad. Its there for a reason

You shouldn't be an objectivist because if people are allowed to make their own decisions then I might get less free shit.

The fountainhead is literal fanfiction with a Mary Sue falling in love with the most manly man ever lived who constantly is surrounded with phalic symbols (you know, he wants to do big, strong, long skycrapers). It's embarassing but entertaining. Atlas Shrugged is somehow more embarassing and fucking boring.

Earthbound's ending was profoundly moving to a young kid like me

In the end it wasn't strength of will, powerful magic, or strong weapons that saved the world. It was the faith of a little girl and the hopes and wishes of everyone whose lives had been touched by the journey.

Reading comprehension is apparently also bad.

The absolute state of lolbertrians

lietrally my brain as I play biocock infitit

I'm not proud but I played Hollow Knight and Nier: Automata after a crippling breakup and I still don't know how two depressing video games made me get over it and become more optimistic. Git gud, I suposse.

Ask me how I know youre a schizo pedophile

After playing system shock, I now want an AI gf

The Fountainhead is decent enough but it turns into mega cringe in the second half after Rand decides to drop any pretenses of subtlety.
It’s just a parable. So is L’etranger but the difference is it’s pure kino.

>i used to be a libertarian in highschool until i realised [specific niche belief that requires big government]

Whoa, super hot take

What's so special about Ayn Rand? Is she really the go-to figure for libertarian philosophy when she is more of a novelist?
