I just realized how long it's been since I've played a game that used the word "level" to describe one or a couple of rooms. It's all screens or chapters.
Holy mother of based this was one of the best levels i've played in a stealth game you're right.

Halo 3 had some great levels but this takes the cake. >engaging opening fight on the beach >massive open places to mess around with the ground and air vehicles >TWO SCARABS >flood siding with you near the end Pure ludokino.
That level from Duke Nukem DC addon where you explore working metro with different lines and stations. Also amolst like entirety of INFRA.

i want an entire game is some sort of place like this. it could even be a walking simulator. idk what to even look for. surreal? non-euclidean? i just love it. halo ce with the original graphics, the purple interiors of the covenant ships in the low poly, made me wish for some weird stuff like this
Levi Sanders
There is some good surreal shit in DUSK. Also, late stages of Amid Evil are full-on abstract romp.
That one particular level in DUSK seems like it was directly influenced by Thief. It even has pic related in it. Not that I'm complaining, it was by far my favorite
Jacob Reed
have you tried antichamber?
Logan Powell
2D Platformers
Cameron Martin
LSD Simulator
Isaac Adams
yeah, i have, i was too much of a brainlet for it. my friend has been trying to get me into dusk and amid evil, thanks
Jose Price
Blood's first 4 levels are unabashedly kino >start at an asylum >leave out the back to a train station >ride train >crash it into amusement park >still get to explore the crashed train at the start of the amusement park level
i played it a ton a few years ago, good recommendation
Bentley Martinez
what remains of edith finch gets kind of surreal at times but is very much a walking sim so even brainlets can beat it
Liam Mitchell
It's been 40 years since "level" meant only a single room or screen. What the actual fuck have you been playing?

1-3 in Demon's Souls Mining Defense 4 in PSO2 is awesome with a mediocre party. It's a bit too easy when everyone knows what to do though. Blackrock Depths in WoW is great. Crystal Caverns in EverQuest. I'm a sucker for anything where you're falling into the atmosphere but I'm struggling to think of games that actually have it outside of like Kirby for the NES.
Gavin Miller
>Half-Life - Surface Tension Nah.
Chase Cox
yeah, i liked it. the house architecture felt surreal even outside of the flashbacks
Halo CE was full of kino levels, but Truth and Reconciliation really let you know what you were in for.
>Night raid with marine bros >Ride gravity lift up to Covenant carrier, giving a feeling of entering the unknown >reuniting with the captain and watching him inspire his men >Escape aboard Covenant dropship
Was it the most adventurous mission in Halo?
Ryder Brown
Yeah, I’d pick Blast Pit, Questionable Ethics, or Lambda Core over that.
For Half Life 2 it’s Water Hazard
Chase Walker
>vtmb - sewer level >Ecco DotF - Anguish of Dearth
John Richardson
How about The Norwood Suite?
Austin King
ive been meaning to play it, thanks!
Bentley Williams
that makes no sense, none of those terms are even remotely synonymous
Jordan Roberts
I loved all of Outer Wilds, but for me it was Giant's Deep. Something seemed so mysterious about it, even if it didn't take that long to fully explore. Maybe because the storms made it seem so hostile and inhospitable.
Lincoln Jenkins
>Dark Souls III: Cathedral of the Deep >Mega Man X: Storm Eagle >Final Fantasy IX: Ipsen's Castle >Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner: BAHRAM Fleet
GD was kino as well, but I feel like it lacked some content BH can be explored completely on your first try, and it has some of the best lore, meanwhile GD requires you to go to some other places before you can see everything, which imo decreases the quality of the planet. But overall these two are the best planets by a huge margin
