P4 fags are the most insufferable of the bunch. The cast barely have any characterisation beyond "my shadow bad". It plays out like a self insert fantasy which is why you faggots like it.

P4 awakenings were just a really shitty way of giving the party members some "character development". I remember thinking the awakenings were really good when I first played the game but replaying it with P4G made me realize that they're pretty stupid. I actually prefer P3/P5's normal awakenings where they just awaken in a situation where they really need it.

It was. Persona 4 was literally everywhere among weebs and there was a shit ton of OC for it compared to any other Persona game. It was pretty much THE game for most weebs that made them experience japanese anime school life through vidya.

The only reason they even face their shadows is because they're thrown into the TV and the party doesn't reach them until the shadow is already confronting them.

P4 is pretty much the only Persona game where personas are awakened that way. P1 and 2 they're given to people by Philemon, in P3 characters just have an innate potential that allows them to summon personas and P5 they're a manifestation of a character's frustration, except for Futaba who awakens to hers like the P4 cast does.

P4 is the only one where they try to make their characters seem deep, and fail at it, by doing this bullshit. It feels like ass too because characters are too quick to recognize and accept their shortcomings and it just feels cheap.

I mean that could be trueI havent played 4 in a long time. 1,2,3 all made sense with awakening to me but 5 was just silly. It didnt make sense for their awakenings to all happen to be thieves from various time periods either. What was even the point of Futabas?

Also going to add on that Futaba's awakening is done in a significantly better way than pretty much all the P4 awakenings too. It doesn't feel rushed or cheap since it's a culmination of like an entire arc.

Also your shadow self in the TV world is literally a personification of every facet of your personality that you try to deny. Also, the cast are all teenagers who aren't exactly known for being the most emotionally stable people around.
So it's not exactly too much of a stretch to think that tennagers confronted with the version of themselves they try to hide (e.g. closeted kanji with the tough-guy biker facade being shown a super flamboyant version of himself) would freak out and reject their shadow self.

The personas you get in P4 are about sterength to accept who you really are.

Personas in P5 are about having a "spirit of rebellion", i.e. willingness to strand up to authority and try to do what they think is right.
