I bought this game a year ago and was able to play it perfectly until the stealth mission where you have to sneak into a truck that drives into some factory. I managed to get into the truck undetected throughout the whole level but the guard that opens the gate doesn't do it. I've restarted the level multiple times to no avail. Do I need some patch or do I have to restart the game and hope that it works properly

Sounds like you got softlocked by a common bug. If the final guard that's supposed to drive you in is in a state of alert, you won't be able to complete the mission, even if you went out of your way to kill all the alarms. This happens to a lot of people, including myself from time to time.

The holdable health liquor you find can carry over between levels of the same mission. Press < or > to cycle through your inventory

Hold down caps lock to walk slowly, but not crouch. Helps with platforming jumps and also keeps you scoped in on all of your rifles while moving.
Also, make sure Always Run: is set to Yes in the Options, otherwise your default movement speed is slow as fuck. A lot of people tick that option to Off at beginning, thinking it means you'll always be sprinting, but no, it just makes you walk way too slow.

Move fast in and out of cover, firing short, controlled bursts of 3 or 4 bullets at the head. Crouching also increases accuracy significantly.
