>B-BU-BUT MUH INTERCONNECTION CONSISTENCY It's a VIDEO GAME. They prioritized gameplay and environmental diversity over pandering to your autism.
>B-B-B-BUT BROKEN HITBOXES Literally every Souls game has them.
Dark Souls 2 is the best Dark Souls PERIOD. >least linear in the series >most diverse environments in the series >longest in the series >most amount of weapons in the series >most amount of armor and customization in the series >biggest build variety in the series >most amount of magic/miracles/hex/pyros >best online mode in the series >easiest to start a build in the series >best girls in the series >best and most SOULful covenants >dual wielding and power stance >respec >offers rewards for fun challenges such as no death run >NG+ has new enemies/items/events and some remixed bosses >the only game in the series which doesn't force you to grind >3 weapon slots in each hand >4 ring slots >reddit hates it
QOL improvements introduced by Dark Souls 2 >you can skip logos at startup (without mods) >R3 to jump >you can choose how many of the same item you want to consume at the same time >weapon durability bar below weapon icon >inventory items displayed in grids instead of list >climb ladders faster and being able to let go of ladders >roll through doors to open them faster >can turn a specific area to NG+ mode (Bonfire Ascetic) >can continue your playthrough after beating the last boss and can choose when to start NG+ >controller vibrates when summoned
Hit boxes are worse healing is casual reused bosses lmao are they serious absolutely worst hub npc world doesn’t make sense

Playing through DS3 has been miserable because I want to be embered but get invaded by twink lords constantly who chug 10 estus and have avelyn. Giving invaders the ability to chug was a dumb fucking idea. At least in DS2 it was a slow heal.
I'm begging you, play another video game. Hell, go find another hobby, anything is better than autistically slobbering over this series day in and day out.

Ds1 had great world design. Shame it was shit in every other regard.
it is quite amusing how these games continue to this day to stir shit up on daily basis on Zig Forums.

I'd love to see what the original concept for Dark Souls 2 was because the finished product is so distinct and removed from what a typical Souls game looks and feels like that it had to have been something else entirely. I've been playing the game for the first time recently and I honestly think that it has some of the best environments in any Souls game and the use of colour is something I wish they continued in DS3. Majula is, without a doubt, the best hub area thanks to the relaxing music and the stunning sunset visuals.
I played BB and I honestly just didn't see the appeal. I wouldn't personally rank it above any of the Souls games. Maybe it's because I played it 3 years after release and missed the initial hype?

youtu.be/phWPEUPCiwc ds2 is literally babby mode, no wonder so many shitters love it

>ds2 is literally babby mode >literally half the people who shit on it are just crying about muh iframes
I think its just because it has such an appealing art style that we don't see very often, as well as being its own contained universe that allows it to breathe and do its own thing without worrying about how it might affect Souls lore. It's my favourite From Software game personally, there's just so much going on in the setting that I like to see, specifically the narrative about what makes a human a human and how it juggles that old line 'those who hunt monsters should take great care they do not become one'. It asks the player questions about what a beast truly is when you see things like the Hunter's Nightmare. I guess to sum it up, I think it explored the human condition in a way that was far more interesting than DS games ever did.

I actually started playing this game like a week ago and i absolutely love it, it ain't Dark Souls 1 or Bloodborne but its still a great game

Dark Souls 2 is honestly an okay game, it's just a bad "souls" game. If you detach from the others and think of it differently you can enjoy it. The multiplayer and pvp in 2 at the time was objectively better as well so you can thank it for that. It's funny cause I pvp in all the games pretty consistently and ds1 remastered is more dead than scholar and you guys still shill ds1. Ds1 hasnt aged well and is probably one of the worst in the series movement/control wise
It's probably because I'm more of a gameplay than story/lore guy.
I thought the atmosphere was great, but I couldn't shake the feeling I was playing a slightly different version of DaS3 that had guns instead of magic and that probably hurt my opinion more than it helped.
I already wasn't a fan of how combat felt in DaS3, though BB did feel a lot more natural. You could at least tell that the bosses were made with the combat in-mind, which was nice.

>Most iconic bosses and armors in the entire franchise >Most soulful environments >Best lore >Most balanced gameplay
DSII ripped half of it's bosses and locations from DS1, this tells a lot.
Somehow this is the most offensive part of your post.
Brandon Diaz
Playing it so late has probably tainted the experience for you a little then, or so I would guess, at least if you felt that BB was just an altered version of DS3. BB came out first and all. Still, I can understand why someone might not enjoy it. I struggle with DS2 sometimes because of its slower gameplay whereas I really love BB for its faster movement.

DaS2 is the best souls game if you mostly care about the multiplayer and pvp. I've done no deaths runs of every Soulsborne game and I'm just not challenged by the enemies or bosses anymore. Invading with different builds is the only thing that's fun at this point.
Benjamin Hughes
after the poise shitfest in 3 no one cares about i-frames anymore

Dark Souls 2 is fine, it's just not as good as the rest. It doesn't make it a bad game, but it's more like the last winner. It was a game of innovation but also questionable decisions, most of them well meaning but ended up super weird like soul memory.
Also, no one gives a shit what this hivemind boogeyman named "Reddit" likes.
For me, it was the trick weapons and dash combat + heal in returning damage. It felt extremely fluid and fast paced. I also appreciated that armor was mostly for fashion and didn't vastly alter how many hits you could take. The augments were kind of neat, albeit a bit lackluster.
Jose Powell
I wish I got people like that in my invasions.Whenever I get invaded it's always some twink using the latest cancer setup or some faggot glitching. >get invaded by some retard in smoldering lake >chugs as soon as he gets hit >gets roll caught literally every time >runs away and black crystals out when he noticed that I wouldn't be an easy kill
I really liked that the armor was mostly for fashion, I just wish I found any of them interesting. They all looked really samey to me. Maybe it's because I'm a dumb weeb.

good games

>Most iconic bosses and armors in the entire franchise iconic =! good >Most soulful environments Yea, up to and including sen's gate. After that it's pretty bad. >Best lore haha no >Most balanced gameplay what's this sharp thing I feel in my mouth, it sure is tugging pretty hard
Isaac Parker
i've always felt like DaS2 is 'arcade' souls to me it had none of the atmosphere, level design, nor memorable music or boss fights but it did have the best build variety and online by a large margin. Most of my hours are from invading and co-op
Dylan Gutierrez
Imagine complaining about the poise in 3? You upset you can't wear heavy armor and stand there not taking hitstun at all while using a straight sword as if they makes sense and is fun to fight. In 3 it was done well, you swing a heavy weapon and the weight of the weapon causes the swing to be harder to interrupt. The poise stat in 3 affected the number of startup frames the poise in a swing had. You were probably a havel with a curved sword in ds1 you have to go back
>The poise stat in 3 affected the number of startup frames the poise in a swing had incorrect, it solely dictates poise health during hyperarmor frames
