1 is the best overall. It felt fresh, had a memorable story and didn't outstay its welcome.

2 made the mistake of taking 1's threadbare backstory seriously and trying to develop it, which led to a catastrophically unsatisfying resolution and the game constantly talking about shit no one cares about. It also made the cases pointlessly long and convoluted, inventing stupidly contrived scenarios to facilitate that.

V3 recaptured the playfulness of the first game's writing and freed itself from the constraints of the terrible overarching plot that 2 built up. The cases are still too bloated and far-fetched but not to the same extent as in 2.

Overall, DR2 was a complete failure and newcomers to the series should just skip it and just play 1 + V3.

1>2>V3 for me.
I loved the atmosphere and the cast of 1, 2 was enjoyable for the most part and v3 went downhill after Le Seesaw Meme.

Unpopular opinion but they all have really good and really bad moments. All in all they probably average to be around the same. 1 is the best thematically, 2 is the best trials and V3 has the best characters and feel. V3 also has by far the best ending in the series and I mean that.
If I had to choose It'd be 1>V3>2
