I think it's because the Berseria cast is just consistently good. Yuri kind of carries Vesperia, while overall I think the Berseria cast is more solid. Velvet and Laphicet are definitely on the weaker side but are brought up anyway by how well the all of the characters play off each other. Meanwhile in Vesperia a lot of it feels like the cast is just connected to each other through Yuri
