Muh fortnite artstyle bad

>muh fortnite artstyle bad

Give me ONE (1) good reason why

Nobody shits on fortnite for the artstyle user.

Too Little Detail

Because its shit and you're a faggot.

Fortnite uses it.

What is that?

So just contrarian faggotry? No actual substance behind it.

blobby and cartoonish to excess. everything looks like a pastel color eyesore.

Because everything looks like a fucking plastic toy, also its a spin-off the SuperCell style that has been copied to death over the last 12 years of appstores.
Its fucking boring and done to death.

I hated the Fortnite style at first. It reminded me of cheap mobile games, but it grew on me. Now I really like it.

It's generic. There are few, if any, traits that set it apart from similar art styles. See also: the Overwatch art style, the Pixar art style.
It's safe. Designed-by-committee to be as inoffensive as possible to appeal to the lowest common denominator.
It's eclectic. With Fortnite in particular there is no single unifying element in tone or setting, it's basically "flavor of the month" that whores itself out to whatever big name or IP willing to cut a deal.

As opposed to gritty brown grizzled eyesores?

How is it done to death if there wasn't even one sinlge player AAA game using it in the last fifteen years?

>It's generic.
This means nothing, I've seen people accuse any slightly unrealistically styled game of looking like Fortnite, like Warcraft 3.

>As opposed to gritty brown grizzled eyesores?
dysentry doesn’t make HIV look good by comparison.

Fortnite looks better than that though.

It's soulless.

Cloud looks pretty ok in that style.

>How is it done to death if there wasn't even one sinlge player AAA game using it in the last fifteen years?
>Only AAA games exists.
The awnser to that question was already on my first post, acquire some reading comprehension.

but fortnite has actual textures and animation unlike OP

also I remember when it was called TF2 graphics

>have simple art
>can make huge games faster
>make ultra detailed omega hd realism art
>game sucks and ages poorly in 5 months
i hate realistic graphics so fucking much.

I imagine if this is how Samurai jack would look like if he was 3D

>There is only 2 artstyles

Then what alternative do you propose

>too flat, too smooth, too pasty, expressions are over exaggerated and unnatural
>colors are too vibrant and don't blend leaving you with playdoh looking textures
>character models and mainly their proportions are disproportionate, exaggerated and unattractive
>environments don't have any details so they leave no impression and could just as well be void
>reminiscent of whacky old school cartoons and makes you associate it with children making any game trying to take itself seriously using the art style instantly a joke
>tell tale sign that the game is low budget or devs aren't committed to it
etc. It's just shit man

Everything 3D that lacks detail is bound to look like a plastic toy, that's the shared inherent nature of stylization, both real and animated, all of which is rooted in the practicality of the speed and simplicity of making it.

It's not bad. I'm glad that kids are growing up with this

no dingus, i mean making AAA quality graphics always means ultra HD dipshit realism, which takes infinite longer to produce. i really don't care about seeing every fiber on a guys pants, i'm ok with everything being "painted" on. hell, i kinda want games to look like MGS1 again, with a few bells and whistles from today, like PBR textures, weather, and fog effects.

if you can’t think of visual aesthetics beyond late 00’s CoD brown and fortnite rainbow color gay pride fuckfest then you should graduate from middle school before trying your luck with Zig Forums again.

You're just listing objective features and pretending they're bad for some reason, most of them are actually beneficial for a limited medium such as vidya, where creating a believable realistic aesthetic takes hundreds of millions of dollars. Replacing that with a simple exaggerated style can replicate most of the intended values for a fraction of the budget, because you don't have to spend millions overcoming the uncanny valley.

I can, I'm just asking what YOU think could be the widespread replacement for the two because you so wisely rejected the two most popular styles

how the fuck is fortnite’s rainbow vomitfest popular, i can’t think of any other games that use it beyond obvious chingchong fortnite copies

If realistic games make up 80% of the most popular AAA games, and cartoony games are in second place at 18% with just Fortnite, Overwatch, WoW, LoL, smartphone games, etc that still makes them the two most popular styles

no material variety

overwatch, lol and fortnite don't look anything alike, nevermind the massive gaping abyss of a genre that is smartphone games. you have brain damage.

I love stylized graphics so fucking much bros

I'm not saying games have to be a certain budget to be good or successful. Sure you can use it to subvert costs and develop a small/medium scale game without much trouble but that's as far as it will go. Without an incredible stroke of luck, most games using that artstyle are destined to fail or be minorly successful at best. Indie games made using sprites, 8-bit, pixel art, 2d portraits or custom 3d models are things that can and do bring life and an atmosphere to their games. I hate to say it but the fortnite artstyle is unironically soulless. It exudes a cashgrab aura. It portrays itself as a cheap piece of crap trying to take advantage of fads in the industry. I'm just saying if you wanted to stylize a game, there are infinitely better options that don't cost any more than the fortnite style. It's just a lack of skill or commitment that's made apparent from the moment the devs choose to use that engine. Games using that shit should be avoided just based on principle.

No.
Texture Work, Lighting and Animations also exist.

OP is a fucking moron who unironically thinks all cartoony or stylized 3D games automatically look the same on basis of being cartoony. trying to put across an argument based on nuance is an exercise in futility with this retard.
