I see many people calling Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age their favorite Final Fantasy now. What makes it so special and so good in their eyes? I never played it

being a contrarian

ashe's skirt

but liking different games doesn't make you a contrarian, user.

Is is the one with the sexy rabbit girl who looks like she is taken straight from porn?

>Mature Story
>Best Combat Of all FFs maybe even all JRPG's
>GOAT OST
>Best World of all FF's
>Best Waifu's of all FF's

It's the best in nearly everyway

The combat makes it a different game overall.
It is FF spinoff.
Might as well call Vargant Story a FF game if you think otherwise.

Yes

Ashe's ass
Bunny whore boobs

So there hasn't been a "real" FF since 10?

based, I listen to this song every day youtube.com/watch?v=bfBenCCkGNM

Yep.

For me it's the worldbuilding it did.

FFX is a linear movie game that ruined the franchise by making the devs think that the future of the series was to do the same thing over and over again. The same team as FFX did FFXIII next and then made the fanfiction that is FF7R.
They have literally never done a single good game in their existence.
FFXII is much more of a Final Fantasy than FFX ever was.

Zodiac Age should have been patched to account for how overpowered the double job system is.

Such a memorable song.

IIRC, they patched all versions to now let you RESET jobs (and get all your LP back) by visiting the clan hall. You can potentially respec for every major area/boss that you can be bothered to plan for.

>this is a 16 year old girl in final fantasy xii
interesting

It’s the closest thing to FFT we’ve had since, and it got a functional PC port/remaster a decade later so it’s still relevant.
Also Fran’s magnificent figure.

she's pure and should be protected at all costs

Thanks, I remember now what game gave me fetish for this leg-feet design.

its just peak contrarianism, its by far the blandest FF

Explain this?

It think is a welcome breath of fresh air, it's not the best FF game square has put out (ffix is the best objectively) but it's playable from start to finish.
>The combat is refreshing and engaging but you can really make your characters overpowered with relative ease
>The story is a mature one but the main protagonists just don't work for the story they were trying to tell, Balthier, Basch or Ashe would be far better protagonists Vann and Penelo shouldn't exist
>There are some really cancerous difficulty spikes (seriously fuck the Salika Woods and fuck the Mandragoras) that force you to go grind xp

But overall it's greater that the sum of its parts

>FFVIII at 8
Fitting.

IIRC, Basch was planned as the MC, until the suits forced the devs to put in Vaan and Penelo as marketable player surrogates.

That's the bad kind of patch. I mean patch the enemies to actually fight back instead of dying in seconds.

The skies. One reason why I loved Skies of Arcadia too.

That old tale makes no sense, because Ashe is the main character and protagonist of the game. Vaan is relegated to a side character after the game's opening act. If Basch was meant to be the main character, he was replaced long before Vaan was ever shoehorned in.

Vaan wasn't shoehorned in, he was always part of the story. They had a concept story with Basch being a main character. However, when Vagrant Story released, Japanese people hated the shit out of Ashley Riot, who was a well-built, athletic male in his thirties acting like a real man.
At this point, Japanese people had spoken, and they just shifted a character that already existed to become the introductory character. It's not like execs forced them to do this, they just learned from the players that this is not what they want.
In fact Vaan, when his name was Aqua and they didn't change the concept story, was supposed to be more effeminate, like really bishounen, but they toned it down when they changed the focus of the character.

how is it best combat when I don't need to press any buttons anymore when I set the gambits a certain way? All I did was using the analog stick until the last boss. FF12 = worse than a telltale game

It could've worked. Sort of how in X Yuna is the one driving the plot but Tidus creates the conflict that explores the world and characters. In XII they could've had Ashe drive the plot but we'd mostly see it as Basch.

and people might say 'what about FFT' but Ramza was 16 years old in this game. He was the youngest FF protagonist, and they made him ULTRA bishounen in later depictions

>In fact Vaan, when his name was Aqua

I wish Ramza would have been more built and athletic as the years went by. I think the war of the lions lasted 6 years in my playthrough so he was 22

Attached: Ramza 2.jpg (2400x2000, 316.88K)

why did vaan look exactly like Tidus? if he looked like this the game wouldve been better

I always got a bit confused by that. There's clearly timeskips between chapters, but the calendar and character ages still progress solely based on your ingame travelling time.

The espers are the best summon designs in the series and I will die on this hill

To be fair, the collared shit makes it hard to sell the idea that Vaan was a street rat growing up. Even if fashion in Rabanastre doesn't really make much sense to begin with.

FFX was a massive hit and they likely wanted to see if lighting heh struck twice.

That's bullshit but I believe it.
Same reason Kojombo created Raiden to replace Solid Snake, except western audience thought he is silly and feminine and after MGS2 they returned to the Plisken archetype.

There's not much I'll praise in FFXII but the art design is stellar. It was the last FF game that actually made me want to just walk around and see the sights instead of having tunnel vision towards the objective.

What is it with Japan and underage twink characters?

Have you seen this one? They made him an official Sky Pirate outfit for Dissidia

Damn, that's actually pretty good.

thats nice

poor people still had a sense of fashion before the 50s, pirates were poor and dressed like that
