Why did the first Super Mario Galaxy seem to have a magic to it that the next games didn't quite have?
Why did the first Super Mario Galaxy seem to have a magic to it that the next games didn't quite have?
because you're a brain damaged nintentoddler
Rosalina was barley in Galaxy 2. Comet Observatory was a better hub world.
The world select in Galaxy 1 is better. Galaxy 1 had more areas with space sky boxes. Galaxy 2 has generic cloud sky boxes.
The cut scenes in Galaxy 1 were better.
Luigi showing up as a playable character was unexpected, since he wasn't in 64 and Sunshine.
It took the best part from Yoshi's Island and made an entire game of it.
Galaxy 2 is way better, of course, but it wasn't new.
because galaxy one was the first one and completely different and unique from 64/sunshine. galaxy 2 despite being more creative with the concept felt like more of the same without being a substantial improvement
both are a 10/10 though imo
Galaxy 1 and 2 represent the lowest point in 3d Mario games. Absolute trash.
Mostly because most galaxies had a space background instead of skies
Because it came out when you were younger
Because Galaxy 2 was basically a big level pack for an existing game.
worst game ever controls suck donkeydick
1 was slower paced and more atmospheric. The overall theme of space being large, mysterious, and sometimes deadly. Every galaxy has it's own themes and styles.
Galaxy 2 was more lively, and focused primarily on new mechanics with progressing difficulty and complexity at a high pace.
Galaxy 2 also had more regular platform worlds, and larger flat areas.
Galaxy 1 had large flat areas like Honey Hive and Beach Bowl Galaxy but Galaxy 2 had far more flat areas.
Galaxy 2 also had flat worlds that were double sided. Anywhere involving the drill. Also those gates you can ground pound through.
The worst Marios are still pretty great
There isnt a core platformer Mario game you can find significant flaws from
these games have really good skyboxes.
I'd say that's arguable with Sunshine. I love it dearly but there are certainly a fair number of rough edges in terms of overall polish and difficulty. Things like the Blue coins having no real indication of which ones you'd collected from courses or where, wonky physics (fucking pachinko), and the overall oddity of resource management in a Mario game. It's not objectively bad but I wouldn't fault someone for disliking it.
Another thing Sunshine has is no invincibility frames after you take a hit. The sting ray boss level was especially annoying for me.
I don't like the analog controls of fludd. Lightly pressing it, you can spray and run. Hard pressing you are still and aim.
>the lowest point in 3d Mario games
It depends on whether you count 3D Land.
Same. I only like 3D World for the multiplayer and other playable characters.
Do you need the sensor bar to play this game? From the little gameplay I've seen you need to point at some points no?
On occasion, yes.
Is it absolutely necessary or can you go past those sections?
you absolutely need it for these games.
You literally defined nostalgia
>It took the best part from Yoshi's Island and made an entire game of it.
The drug level?
Not a fan of the Galaxy games. Still good games in their own right but not something I wanted out of a 3D Mario.
But I must give credit where it's due. Galaxy 1 in particular had amazing atmosphere. Something that even Galaxy 2 couldn't recapture.
God I hope they will port them on the switch. didn't play the galaxies.
>3d mario ports only have 64, sunshine, and galaxy
>galaxy 2 isn't in the cart, and is instead paid DLC which jacks up the price
i'd be livid if they did this
I don't think that would happen, based on the fact they haven't jewed out on 3D mario yet (even though there was massive demand for it with Odyssey). Plus, they're releasing 3D World Deluxe separately, that's where most of their money will be made.
it's just a thought that has been in the back of my mind, since some """"insiders"""" have only mentioned galaxy 1, and not galaxy 2. (unless i'm blind)
this is the correct answer
are they doing ports of some 3d Mario?
it's just a rumor circulating around that we might get a 3D mario collection which consists of ports of the first four 3D mario games.
Because it had many new ideas and character and after that we got Mario Galaxy 2 which is the most rehash of rehashes and a thousand of New Super Mario bros games which all use the same dull plain/cave/desert/tundra/lava/castle scenario
Hey. hey, listen here for a second. HEY. Guess what?
It's the orchestral music.
well I hope this is true
