Which design is better?
Which design is better?
Why don't they just make Demon's Souls 2 instead?
The left design is better.
The right design looks like a generic cartoon "monster" that comes up when you search for monster clip art on Google Images.
right
Dark Souls 1 already exists
Right. Unless this is a scary Monsters Inc. parody
Demon's Souls doesn't?
Left eyes on right Vanguard. I don't hate the new design, the eyes were just perfect on the left. Right looks too much like a Doom Eternal Mancubus
Left always looked goofy to me. Like the fischer price of demons that didn't fit the game nearly as well as some of the other demons. I wasn't supposed to learn it was an asset flip from another From game.
I don’t see anything particularly wrong with the left one besides ‘09 console limitations but the guy on the right looks like he’s related to the asylum demon from Dark Souls 1. As such the one on the left looks more original - which is funny because his model was ripped from a previous FromSoft game.
The left one looks like a demon of Khorne.
The right one looks like a demon of Nurgle.
It's a slight difference, I'm not sure which is actually better at this point, but you can tell they're changing some shit.
>previous game
which one?
>another souls game
ooh wee can't wait roll and slash and drink potions and repeat
Right looks like something Blizzard would shit out.
right deisng could use some bigger teeth but is superior in every other sense
Enchanted Arms. They also used the spider from Ninja Blade, put some armored chitin on it and used it as the armored spider in 2-1.
the remake only retards wanted
Left.
>model designed 11 years apart
How would it not be objectively better looking, especially for a PS5 launch title?
I'm of the opinion that different artstyles have different graphical fidelity requirements for proper realization.
Demon's Souls' graphics realized its artstyle very well, but since it's based on soft colors, low detail surfaces, and fairly unembellished environment design I wonder if its artstyle would actually look WORSE with a higher level of graphical fidelity?
Demon's Souls Remake's artstyle looks kind of generic, but it takes good advantage of the PS5's graphical fidelity capabilities.
TL;DR:
Most fans just want DeS at high resolution and 60fps.
Stockholders want a DeS that looks visually stunning to show off the PS5's tech.
These are mutually exclusive wants.
everything I've seen so far looks like they added a Doom 2016 filter
I really don't mind it but I wish they were closer to the old ones to retain the feel of the game
Left.
The Vanguard on the right looks annoyed, which is a relatable human emotion.
The Vanguard on the left looks like it's totally indifference to anything but the process of killing you.
That game looks bad.
Brought this up too before.
DeS design would look bizarre at higher graphical fidelity, it'd be like really high-poly plastic toys.
>I wonder if its artstyle would actually look WORSE with a higher level of graphical fidelity?
Doubt it. I thought the same thing about DS1 10 years ago when the PC release got announced. It actually looked better than I could have thought.
OG vanguard would like fine if they designed him as such, but Bluepoint’s artists get to show off how good they can make weird and bruished fleshy demon skin.
The ‘remaster’ makes way more sense if you view the game as some sort of design portfolio for Bluepoint: Sticking true to original designs is far from a priority.
It would be a more realized “Golden Age” Berserk.
I'm really worried about how they'll handle the Valley of Defilement swamp.
You just know someone is going to look at that super-limited draw distance and say "this is clearly just due to graphical limitations" then proceed to ruin the atmosphere of the level.
The only real upside I see from this graphics overhaul is dragonfire having clearer hitboxes.
left looks like a boss from a bad MMO, right looks like a boss from nu-Diablo
I prefer the one on the left because the goofiness adds more to the creepy factor than the boring one on the right
Right looks better in general, but it lost a bit of the charm left had with it's three eyes glowing as they do and the simplicity of the skin.
I prefer left, but right isn't bad.
I would agree with this.
Sometimes a bit of 'goofiness' also feels oddly realistic.
The new one.
Demons Souls, like most early PS3 games, still felt like a PS2 game in a lot of ways, especially in the visuals and the Vanguard is the perfect example of that.
Based on what has been shown for the remake so far, the screenshots seem pretty in line with what FromSoft would do if they were making DeS today. Whether that’s a good or bad thing is up to you.
>It actually looked better than I could have thought
DS1 on PC is the same meshes and textures as PS360 just at a higher res thanks to dsfix, no?
>[HL2 ferns mod pic]
Artstyle aside, it clearly shows off the fidelity so good example.
Here's hoping Bluepoint doesn't add a giant crashed dragon corpse sitting snugly underneath an intact bridge.
>shitsouls console cancer
Both are shit, you filthy pleb.
>DS1 on PC is the same meshes and textures as PS360 just at a higher res thanks to dsfix, no?
Yeah, and I wouldn't see anything wrong with DeS' specific artstyle being more realized, either.
>Artstyle aside, it clearly shows off the fidelity so good example
A great example of Bluepoint having a serious misunderstanding of the original's setting.
>Here's hoping Bluepoint doesn't add a giant crashed dragon corpse sitting snugly underneath an intact bridge.
If it looks good then they will, they clearly don't give a shit at this point and we've established trying to stick to the original is not in their best interests.
