What the fuck will children reminisce about in a decade or so? Fortnite? Mobile games? Fuck, there already are young adults that feel nostalgic about Minecraft and Skyrim while FNAF is on its way.
What the fuck will children reminisce about in a decade or so? Fortnite? Mobile games? Fuck...
I'm not kidding! People already feel nostalgic about Skyrim of all games!
They will lack the mental capacity to reminisce about anything. Brains are being mutated by technology to only appreciate the immediate. There will be no empathy, there will be no true emotion.
>nooo what about the heckin kiddos what will they be nostalgic for?!?!
Who the fuck cares? Live your life.
I'm still worried, worried about the state of children for the next decade or so given the combination of technology replacing parenting, terrible videogames and a retarded online culture. I can't do shit about it but I still worry
It's not like better games will make them any less of a bunch of fuckheads as whatever it is they're playing now. Just look at how Millennials turned out, and we had the best shit. All you can do is keep your kids off computers and gadgets and hope they grow up to be normal.
Who cares anyone born in the last 20 years is just a mindraped shillbot.
Minecraft is extremely nostalgic
Why? If you have kids, raise them right. If you don’t have kids, that’s someone else’s problem
Nice can't wait for them to be legal
I agree. The reliance on computers started ruining children, especially in modern-day internet. In the past it wasn't a good place for children to be in but now it absolutely isn't a good place for children to be in. Giving everyone access to the internet and encouraging them to use it was a mistake
I honestly think traditional fighting games will be completely dead within 20-25 years. Younger gamers largely favor platform fighters like Smash, meaning that cashing on nostalgia for SF/tekken esque games will not be viable. The actual characters themselves, which can also form a kind of attachment, will also be largely forgotten.
Traditional fighters also lack the elements that young gamers will value in their competitive experience (ie: teamplay, 'builds', MOBA aspects) while also having barriers that will increasingly be viewed as archaic (execution requirements, 1v1 limited scope, difficulties having engaging single player modes).
It's not the end of the FGC world, but you can see it from here.
Yes? Man this board is really out of touch.
Protip: every generation every bitched about what the kids like. During our era it was shit like pokemon
My son plays Sonic Mania, Mario Maker, DOOM(93), all Smash Brothers, TF2, L4D, Half Life, all Mario Karts, NES Marios, Mario World, Classic Sonics, Monster Hunters.
Good. The fighting genre is unironically crappy and stale.
The shit I saw as a kid surfing the internet unsupervised made me pretty confident that I'd never want to have my kids on there. It's just unfortunate that it has embedded itself into everything instead of remaining as something that you had to sit at a desktop to access.
I experienced equally fucked up shit IRL, it's not the internet, it's humans that are fucked up.
The internet, much like television, is a gateway to witnessing a lot of shit you would otherwise live in ignorance of.
Well I did not, like I said, I experienced many fucked up shit, from underage unprotected sex to gore, none of it was willingly, it just happened.
But there's a difference, there was always "generations hate next generation's hobbies" but this is on a different level, the children will have their desires molded by the casual garbage they play and they'll almost never be interested in actually good games and genres. Children within a decade will barely know what Red Alert or Age of Empires is and corporations will love to pander to the casual audience even more, so at least several more genres will die in the process.
Agreed, the internet should've remained as a sort-of-there thing and not embed into most people's daily life
But you would agree that these sorts of things shouldn't be put on film or in a photo gallery and made available to everyone right?
>But there's a difference
There really really isn't
>my old stuff won't be known to kids!!!
Just like you know all the old tv shows that your parents and grand parents watched outside of a very tiny handful, right? Or books they loved as a kid or whatever else piece of media that you wrongly believe is timeless and ageless
People have been nostalgic about FF XII in recent years, which is one of the reasons you've been seeing so much praise of it all of a sudden. I've seen some for FF XIII as well.
This is so true. Was talking to my brother about this the other day when watching some kids who's only reaction was to cover their mouth and go "yooooo" when something happens. That seems to be the only emotion kids have nowadays.
No, no, no. This time it's true because I'm the one bitching!
Origami King was my childhood!
I see where you're getting at but it falls flat on its face if there actually is a degradation over time. Would you really call Teens Titans Go on par with the original Teen Titans cartoon?
>parents and grand parents watched
There was barely anything for them to watch during commie occupation
I don't agree, it's part of life, if it exists on the internet it's because people demand it, it's like our mind knows there's fucked up shit somewhere but most don't have the chance to experience it by themselves.
It's the internet. If you experienced IRL the fucked up shit you can find on the internet, you are either from a third world shithole or the vast minority of your population.
Like most other good games, you need to look to the past for the best ones.
Literally every single generation thought their media was better than the kids. You aren't special and your time growing up wasn't some golden age of perfection. You're just getting old and falling into the same hole that every old person does.
Outer Wilds is one of the best games ever made.
It is, but people have their whole lives to realize how fucked up the world is, they don't need to learn about cartel beheadings or hardcore porn when they're 12.
I can't debate you that, mainly because I experienced a literal knife backstab when I was five, but I think I grew up fine, at least better than the sheltered kids I met in college, most of them are sadistic pedo furfags.
But that doesn't mean things can't get worse, degradation of quality can't just be simply excused as "other generations hate it, therefore it can't be worse than before", also I'm not that old.
