I'm looking for buy a new one when I move soon but can't decide what to get.
Any suggestions? 4K or high refresh rate? Both?

I got this one 144hz monitor for cheap, its a ASUS VG248qe
computeralliance.com.au
aussie site ik, but it performs pretty good for its price.
4k is a meme, do not fall for it.
this
you dont need 4k unless you have a massive fuckoff display where its possible to see individual pixels on 1080p. And by massive fuckoff I'm talking billboard size or an entire fucking wall is your monitor.
1080p will do you fine, focus on high refresh rate and low response time. Aim for 144hz minimum, 2ms response time maximum.
For me, it's the LG 27GL83A
what about 1440p/ 2k?
>all these cucks that don't have 4k monitors
>he fell for the meme
Much less of a meme than 4K if you want 60 FPS but still a meme if you're aiming at anything higher.
>better resolution is a meme
Poorfag cope
Can anynone recommend a good IPS monitor?
1080p 60hz is okay, 1440p is okay but not needed.
Higher hz I dont care about.
Would be nice if it had extra usb slots as well, I usually plug my controller into my monitor.
It is a meme
Based, for me its the LG 27GL850-B
Picked it up yesterday, total game changer
1080p is obsolete and gamer kids jack off way too much to refresh rate.
True guide: if you game a lot and play first person shooters or fast action style games, get 1440p and 120hz+. If you spend most of your time not gaming - or playing things that aren't fast moving (which is most games, contrary to what ADHD hertzfags think) - then go 4K.
Hello based department? It's insane how they were able to make 144hz, IPS and 1440p with a relatively low response time for like $500
Nah it's the choice of a cultured gentleman. I bought a 24" 1440p 144Hz panel like 4 years ago it's great, my friend even sold his 4K after getting jelly about the refresh rate.
Worth it, if you can drive that FPS. I always kinda of thought 1440p would be a marginal upgrade, but you really do get a pretty big increase in screen real estate to warrant upgrading. And, high refresh with good graphics more than feasible unlike 4K which is pretty much still early adopter territory.
Do I want to even guess how bad the input lag will be
Better to wait for fully functional 4K than to waste money on middle ground stuff like 1440p. "Hey we can't do 4K 144Hz yet so please buy this product while you wait!"
I'll always laugh at IPSniggers. You guys have no idea what you're talking about. There's is so much that can go wrong about a gaming monitor and the panel is absolutely not the main issue you should care about.
i've been holding off for a while now, but thinking of buying pic related later in the year.
Well the 1ms response time they advertise is only attainable when you turn on Very Fast or whatever in the settings, but as a result you get some gnarly ghosting.
But on Fast, it's like 2.5-3 ms response, no ghosting, good enough for me
>27" 1080p
>240HZ
yikes
>The Input lag of the VW995ES is low (27 ms, per Sony) on 4K / HDR games, but is probably a touch longer on 1080p, since 4K is the Sony's native mode. Count this Sony VW99ES projector as one of the most expensive and amazing gaming displays available today
fucking poorfags I swear.
What's the consensus on curved monitors?
I bought a 144hz ultrawide monitor and found out it if you pair it with a 60hz panel, your monitor reverts back to 60hz when you render something in the low hz monitor.
So stupid since I have my tv connected to my pc as my 2nd panel. I don't want to burn $1500 on an oled 144hz lg tv.
Anyone have this issue?
>1080p 60hz
There's no reason to limit yourself to 60hz at that resolution anymore, when the new offerings offer 240hz IPS panels. Look into ASUS' TUF line. If for some reason you're insistent on capping yourself at 60hz for some strange reason, I guess look into Dell Ultrasharps, although I'm pretty sure their 60hz offerings are 2K or 4K nowadays.
Are there any good VA panels besides the ones that are in the G7? Every other one seems to have problems with slow transitions
>he's a """hardcore""" gamer whose eagle eyes can take advantage of even half a millisecond to gain the edge over his foes
Based. After a ton of research I'll probably be picking up its little brother, the 27GL83A-B, soon. Only other big contender was the PG279Q, but the price is pretty ridiculous for such an old monitor.
You see those fags in /g/, they've got curved monitors...curved monitors.
Why's everything so expensive Britbros?
>27"
>1080p
>why yes, i like my pixels fist sized, how could you tell?
Get a Quad HD 144hz monitor at minimum. I got a 240hz 1080p one and a 144 hz QHD one and I prefer the latter so much that I mostly have the 1080p one off because it looks like shit in comparison. It's ok for streaming video on the side though but the jump from 144hz to 240hz is very minimal. which i barely notice unless i do a 900 degree spin in a microsecond and focus with my face against the screen.
They vary from awful to surprisingly not bad for console anyway. I have an older 1080p model with 15ms of lag.
>470€
>for a run of the mill monitor
I only have a 1080 and I guess I wont upgrade for a few years.
I might be able to hit 144fps in most games but not in new AAA gamed I think.
That's on the low end for monitors with these specs.
And how many recent games can you play at 144 FPS at 1440p? Genuine question, because every benchmark I saw never managed to maintain the framerate at all times even with an RTX 2080 Ti.
