Why don't more people take video game addiction seriously?

Because video games are video games.

Explain?

Is there a difference between addiction and something just being so good it makes everything else look like shit by comparison?

Put me in the screencap XD

I realized that I derive some element of my self worth from however good or bad I’m doing in whatever game I’m focusing on so I probably have a problem but vidya is just a symptom of failing everywhere else

Because there's no such thing.
It's like saying someone has football addiction.

And people die when they are killed.

"internet games"
lol good thing I only play single player games.

Because the cure for videogame addiction was found years ago. Its called "posting on Zig Forums".

Is there such a thing as shitposting addiction disorder? Because I didn't touch a video game in months. I spend all my time on this god-forsaken website

Addiction is still pretty undefined and the vast majority of people still think addiction is only referenced in substance abuse. Studies suggest addiction is as much of a part of our every day lives as happiness and sadness. Most people are addicted to something like work or a hobby, but it's only viewed as a problem when it leads to perceived negative effects. I know addicted coffee drinkers, addicted horse owners, addicted workaholics, ect. Like most mental health aspects, we are only scraping the surface of how complicated out brains really are.

no one cares mr einstein dumbfuck

Why isn't gender dysphoria classed as a mental illness in the (((DSM-V)))?

because trannies are in power and have the money to sue.

not him but kill yourself you subhuman monkey

these are literally the same 'symptoms' for every other type of addiction that exists
>preoccupation with getting drunk/gambling
>withdrawl symptoms when alcohol/gambling is taken away
>need to drink more alcohol/gamble more money
>inability to control drinking/gambling
>loss of interests in things that aren't drinking/gambling
>i know i have drinking/gambling problems but i can't stop
>etc
who knew being addicted to something is like being addicted to something

You should be low risk then, that good to hear.

>this is mental illness but cutting your dick off is normal and brave

If games are addictive, why did I completely lose interest in them and can't even force myself to finish one?
Checkamte faget

If I cant use this to get opioids, then it's worthless.

Because unlike drugs or booze, you can lose interest in it and it doesn't control you.
It's effects only affect you for as long as it can keep you interested.

I care, it was an interesting read. Consider killing yourself

>Just forget last year that in the same week they declared playing video games a mental illness but removed gender dysphoria from the DSM
Piss off tranny

>Why don't more people take video game addiction seriously?
The same reason they don't take sex addiction seriously, it's not an addiction unless you have absolutely zero control of yourself.

They didn't declare playing video games a mental illness

>it's not an addiction unless you have absolutely zero control of yourself.
Patently false.

If it's not an addiction then why don't you quit?

No, if you can't walk away from a game, you have so little willpower that your life is destined to be a dark spiral of self-destruction, an absolute waste of a life.

That argument is only valid for porn
