huh...
Huh
STOP BRINGING UP SHITTY INDIE GAMES WITH DUMB BULLSHIT LIKE FUNCTIONAL BATTLE SYSTEMS AND CREATIVE FREEDOM
ORIGAMI KING HAS WHAT REALLY MATTERS, AND THAT IS NINTENDO BRANDING
I know this post is sarcasm but are there really dumbasses who dismiss Bug Fables for petty reasons?
Most pm fans I know that aren't purists, the same faggots that argue about 64vsTTYD, like it.
Mostly because
>Functional battle system
>Creative freedom
Yeah, maybe the bug theme isn't to everyone's taste, sure. That doesn't make it a lesser game.
There are people who legitimately dismiss Bug Fables because it makes the new Paper Mario look bad so they see it as "the enemy." It's all very stupid.
I mean I know this is a small minority of retards but
>Game that is just like Paper Mario 64, but a new IP, is released
>It's good. Not perfect, not as good as Nintendo at its prime, but comparably decent
>If this game does well, other people might make more rpgs like it, we might get sequels from the same devs. Maybe even Nintendo will pull their heads out of their own ass if they see people making bank over a style of game they created they no longer capitalize on.
>Purity spiraling retards: >"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO IT'S NOT THE SAME!!!"
I like Mario games because they are Mario games. Would never have played Paper Mario on N64 if it wasn't Mario, and the same is true today.
Pretty much all of the hate towards the original two paper mario games is contrarianism and people shitposting for easy (You)s.
I don't really understand the appeal of either games to be honest. Paper mario was fun only as a small child on the n64 because children's brains aren't fully formed and are easily entertained despite the lack of genuine substance. As an adult, I thought paper mario was extremely shallow as an rpg and my experience with bug fables carried over for that. Just admit you're autistic children who never mentally developed.
>me like nintendie!!!
>ME LIKE NINTENDIEEEE!!!!
>I know this post is sarcasm but are there really dumbasses who dismiss Bug Fables for petty reasons?
Of course not. The only reason it really gets any shit is because it's one of Zig Forums's success stories and the other people in the "why aren't you making a game" threads.
>TTYD autists review bomb origami king because it's not TTYD 2
>They want it to be complex rpg
>when it's a fucking mario game
I haven't played the new one but I doubt it's as bad as color splash.
>Paper mario was fun only as a small child on the n64 because children's brains aren't fully formed and are easily entertained despite the lack of genuine substance
user these are manchildren so of course they're going to nostalgia over a 20 year old game.
I dismiss bug fables because it’s art style is fucking hideous, every new city requires you to run around for 20 minutes talking to people , and the ost is dogshit.
I haven't played it, but from what i've seen there is no level system and the game revolves around items. So most battles are skippable.
So, pointing subjective aspects, uh?
You still sound like a child to me.
I like BF but it really is rough around the edges. Particularly in the visuals department. If they ever do a sequel I hope it has a little more polish and variety in the style
That's literay the reason why all this hate exist. People want paper mario to be an RPG because is used to be an RPG with mario on it. Paper mario never did anything better than other RPGs but the fact that it was an RPG with Mario characters.
Not buying any of it because I am not interested in childish games. But I need to comment. Every fucking time you see two similar games and one is 80-95% and the other is around 50%, you should at least try the second. Things with high score tend to be played safe and boring so they appeal to masses. That goes for games, books, movies and any other media.
Nice cover Nintendie
>I am not interested in childish games.
I'm guessing you're in your late teens? Maybe early 20's?
I dismiss Bug Fables because it's a poorly designed game both aesthetically and mechanically. Copying Paper Mario doesn't instantly make your game good.
>and mechanically
Is that so?
>Dangen doesn't exist
These niggas threw other indies under the bus and keep shilling on Zig Forums. Their success is nowhere near the only reason people dislike the constant shilling in every single fucking Paper Mario thread.
>I haven't played it
Oh well your right to this argument is revoked.
I'd say so, yeah. Paper Mario's a good kids' game because of how precisely tuned it is. BF is sloppy, which makes it tedious in places.
If you wanna sing its praises be my guest, go ahead.
Will pressing A at the right time really change the experience?
Honestly, I would like to hear your thoughts on it. I do like it, but I'm not obsessed or young enough to fanboy so hard to ignore flaws.
Personally, I loved figuring out strategies to cheese fights, and thought the general structure was enjoyable enough
Most of it comes down to numbers and repetition/area design. Paper Mario was designed more like attacks being "solutions" of varying efficacy and situational utility. Bug Fables keeps numbers low but the pace is generally slower both due to having three characters and enemy stats. Similarly, PM areas tended to be very short and simple. The setup was not conducive to spending a lot of time on one screen. Bug Fables has annoying puzzles that take longer than they should due to how your characters move in 3D space. It copied PM directly without fully understanding why design decisions were made. It's comparable to a mediocre romhack in my eyes.
Bug fables is fine, its a solid 6/10 or 7/10 at times but it's missing a ton of the polish that it really needs to perfectly capture that Paper Mario spirit.
Also the actual levels are short as fuck compared to the Paper Mario equivalents, and the playtime is padded with a bunch of boring fetch quests and backtracking.
Like i said it's fine and its worth picking up for 10 bucks during a sale if youre a paper mario fan but people who are saying its as good or better than PM64 or TTYD are fucking delusional, and I'm fully expecting to have a better time with TOK based on what i've heard about it.
From my perspective the best game to capture that actual paper mario feel with enough polish to actually carry it was South Park the Stick of Truth. It's not as much of a 1:1 copy of PM as Bug Fables, but it's a much better game than Bug Fables.
Paper Mario is fucking dead.
Honestly Bug Fables is better than PM64/TTYD in a few notable ways (way better sidequests, more challenging difficulty option, more varied "builds" you can set up your team with). Obviously the presentation, graphics/music aren't quite there, and it's rough around the edges, but it was way better than I expected it to be.
