They did make sonic adventure 3 tard, it's called Sonic the Hedgehog, also known as Sonic 06. The sonic adventure formula is awful and people only liked it because of the chaos and the cutscenes.

Adventure 1, if you don't think it was good, is at least soulful, and most people didn't actually play it until it got ported to the Gamecube in the 2000s.
I think people are mainly looking fondly on the '00s compared to '10s because Sonic Team was trying a lot more back then. They were as incompetent as they are now but there was heart, even in their worse products like 06. Forces is a black hole of effort and them spending half the game's dev time on the lighting ending shows.

I agree, but something happened with Unleashed that made Nu-Sonic just so....not great. It feels like everything is now self-aware with jokes. It's kinda feels like Family Guy but worse. They're aware how terrible they are and make fun of themselves. The only difference Sonic had a bigger impact on people.

I don't think that it's that current year Sonic Team lacks a vision. I think the problem is actually the opposite, it always looks like there's too many different conflicting visions, and it causes the games to get all muddled up and incoherent.
Look at Lost World and its bizarre tonal shifts during cutscenes. It's like one person on the dev team wants to make something serious, and another wants to make something dumb and silly. Look at how in Forces, Infinite's origins literally get retconned within the game itself, with some lines stating that he's a creation of Eggman, and Episode Shadow stating that he's just some dude that Shadow beat up.
I think that Sonic Team has lots of effort, going into all the wrong places. Look at how Forces has the difficulty option, even though the game has so few threats that it barely changes anything. Same with all the different Wispon abilities to play with, that ultimately change nothing about the gameplay. It's almost like the game was supposed to be more, but someone insisted that things be done this way. Sonic Team isn't just incompetent people trying and failing, it's fucking eating itself and I think that there are people putting genuine work in that just gets stomped on before the games reach the public.
