What is it with this homosexual, obsessive attachment with turn based combat? Seems every western studio making an rpg for the past decade or so have all been trying to capitalize on the nostalgia a lot of people feel for Baldur's Gate but do none of these faggots pay attention to the fact BG1 & 2 were real time with pause?
I don't see how it's more of a challenge to faff about with turn based combat when either all fights are so trivially easy you kill everything on the first turn or you savescum to get around hard disables.
Having played the first DOS a couple years ago, DOS2 was a pretty big disappointment. All the gameplay is the same from the first game with the only differences being you have a hard cap on your AP, nearly all enemies have a teleport ability and for some fucking reason you are only allowed to use your most powerful spells once per combat. What fucking justification is there for this? With the decline in the quality of the writing you'd think some effort would at least have been made to improve on the actual gameplay.
Further embarrassment is the fact that this game had double the budget of the first yet there's shitloads of placeholder items and text.
Wasting as much time as I did on this trash is my biggest regret of this year.
>Baldur's Gate but do none of these faggots pay attention to the fact BG1 & 2 were real time with pause? That’s not a TBS then, that’s a RTS
Joseph Mitchell
Why are discord trannies making DOS2 and BG3 threads every couple hours? Why are they so obsessed with seething over Larian?
Jeremiah Morales
People are comparing apples and oranges. DOS gameplay is nothing like BG and that is the point.
Austin Sanchez
and you feel the desperate need to make this point three threads per day over the course of several weeks because...?
Jeremiah Parker
I didn’t make any BG or DOS threads
Anthony Cox
The only people defending Larian over this are shills
Julian Wright
>TBS/RTS They are exclusively tactical. Besides, even if they weren't, you could more accurately categorize them as RTwP.
Anyway, people simply tend not to like RTwP format. At best, pausing breaks the flow (if the game wasn't designed to be paused from time to time, it would just be a real-time game) and at worst you spend so much time pausing and making sure every character is doing what they're supposed to that you actually spend more time playing each encounter than you would with a turn-based system, even without the kind of designs that would allow faster play (like ability to completely skip animations). Moreover, precisely because constantly pausing the game is such a drag, you'd rather use brute force tactics (like mass CC). Obviously, CC is inherently good, but when precision control is as convenient as brute force methods, tactics with more finesse start sounding a lot more appealing.

There is no pausing in DOS. This isn't Dragon Age Origins (which borrows from BG). It’s literally turned based as in like chess where I make a move then my opponent makes a move. You can hate turned based games but saying that it was just trying to copy BG combat is completely wrong.
Aiden Harris
Dragon Age Origins had a good compromise between RTS and RTwP with the customizable NPC AI
It's a real shame Bioware didn't improve on the strengths of Dragon Age and instead turned to complete and utter shit.
And the only people seething this hard are discord trannies and codexfags.
Jonathan Brooks
Neither BG or Dragon Age are tbs fyi. But yes Dragon Age did go to shit
Adrian Lopez
>You can hate turned based games but saying that it was just trying to copy BG combat is completely wrong.
Well no, that's kind of the point. These pretenders keep trying to ape the look and feel (characters and dialogue) but to my knowledge there's been no one since Black Isle went under that has even attempted an implementation of the DnD ruleset in a video game.
Why would discord trannies have any issues with a game full of degenerate faggotry?
Caleb Brown
i see beamdog is still salty that they didn't get bg3
Sebastian Perry
Because their preferred company didn't get the job. Also because based Swen keeps making dwarves, goblins, orcs, and lizards too sexy.
Yeah that's why BG1&2 are considered some of the greatest games of all time, because people hated them. Makes sense.
Christian Brown
>but to my knowledge there's been no one since Black Isle went under that has even attempted an implementation of the DnD ruleset in a video game. You do realize D&D is literally TBS, right?
Jason Watson
Nice. The last pfg thread died in under 100 posts and stuck at 15 unique IPs. Maybe this will revive it beyond monkanon let's play posting KotC2.
Christian Richardson
only reason i appreciated turn based on this was because I played it on ps4 for some reason/
Adrian Wilson
Agreed, I think DA:O has a good balance there. I'd also like to point out that I'm not inherently opposed to more typical RTwP systems either: for example, it works fine in stealth games or strategy/tactics games where a lot of your time is spent doing nothing watching enemies' routines or maneuvering unengaged forces, and then there are bouts of more intensive activity. However, that's not typical RPG combat, which tend to be about direct engagement from start to finish.
Hunter Ross
>Why is a D&D game turn based Kill yourself retard
Christopher Hughes
You realize there used to be a lot of games based on second edition DnD that were all real time and didn't even offer the option of going turn based, right?
>IEtards have literally never played another game are they the harry potter fans of CRPGs?
William Phillips
it's so hard to accept that this game is really good?
Juan Morgan
Or maybe they liked them DESPITE the RTwP format, or that the RTwP there was about as well-executed as could be and managed to be not a drag or even enjoyable (it's just that equally well-made turn-based or pure real-time system would have been even better).
Jaxon Garcia
discord tranny here. i can confirm that we're not the ones doing this
Ayden Collins
So you are literally complaining because they are not going with your preferred edition of D&D. Now, I understand why.
Anthony Green
>People You are a single person, not people. The polls show a close to 50/50 spread on preference for TB/RTwP.
>Why is a video game implementation of a tabletop game not artificially limited in the same way as the tabletop game? Think user, you got this.
Matthew Mitchell
>Anyway, people simply tend not to like RTwP format It's funny how you braindead jrpg fans speak for all people. Cool revisionism.

The series have been voted top 5 of all time in numerous rpg polls, somehow in spite of the combat system being terrible? Do you honestly believe this, user?
