XCOM 2 How the fuck to win

Dude just tell me how to fucking beat at least the first Black Site of XCOM 2. I've tried over a dozen times, gone in with plated armor and all this shit, just tell me what I have to do win the game. On fucking normal even.

I have nothing to contribute, but is the new XCOM with the playable aliens any good?

nigga that mission doesnt even have a timer just spam overwatch

God fuck no, stay far the fuck away from that hot mess. Unless you like having forced dialogue with Viper alien talking about the LGBT.

Save scum if you have to. Who cares? It's a single player game. I can't even remember what the black sites were. The game becomes so easy when you get high skilled people with the unique weapons. Only difficulty is clearing with no injuries. Which I managed.

I play on iron man because I assume it's good to do so. My mistake?

Basically you use a cloaked unit to scout and aggro each group of enemies one at a time. Set up for each fight so that you can wipe each group out in 1 turn, ideally by baiting them into an overwatch trap and using flanks when available. If you can't do that, use a resource such as a grenade or ability. You should basically view each group of enemies as a puzzle - how can you kill them all while saving the most resources and reducing the most risk?

If you're having trouble then don't and save scum. I don't play on Ironman because a lot of shit is hardcoded. For example, if you save before you move, and move the same character every time, even if it's a 95% shot and you miss, you'll miss every time you reload. You'll never hit. The only way to 'break' the miss is by moving another character and acting with them first. Each time you do it resets the calculation result, even if it hasn't happened.

Honestly it really doesn't matter. If you're gonna stay on Ironman, then I recommend abusing overwatch when you have no timer. Trigger enemies to run into your mass overwatch then finish them off next turn.

It's alright, a 10$ B-team product. Triggers Zig Forumstards quite nicely though.

Also weapons > armour

Since the other retard is a Zig Forums brain I'll give you an opinion on gameplay. It's alright, but it is a bit on the easy side. Definitely a side entry and not a full blown campaign experience. If you enjoy the mission execution gameplay you will like it, but for many the real xcom is the tactical layer which is almost completely gutted.

It's one of my favourite games ever

It's mediocre. Has some interesting ideas but not executed very well.

Never mind thought you were talking about wotc lol
I didn't bother finishing chimera squad, hated the combat changes

Never play on iron man because you can't trust the game to not shit itself and cost you hours of progress. You can self enforce iron man, but never pick it.

Watch beaglerush play a mission, it'll probably change your entire approach to the game

So to wipe out a pod, do you really just run up and set all your team to overwatch while having your best guy get only one shot in?

Why isnter there a WotC mod that adds that sexy viper from that new game yet.

Yes, or use other methods. Like cloak. Or destroy cover to provoke a LoS trigger.

>One of the only missions in the game that doesn't have a timer.

>One of the only missions in the game that you know will have a specific Chosen on it so you can counter pick it.

>One of the only missions in the game where there's no reinforcements until the end of the mission.

>One of the only missions in the game where you can choose when to attack and do it, so you can be fully prepared.

>One of the only missions in the game where you have no extra shit to do. No extra bodies to carry, no one to save, no one that dies in X turns. You can't fucking lose.

And you're asking for help?

This is a fucking tactics game and you've managed to let the fucking first story mission in the game bring you to the point where you're unable to even advance with end-game gear.

Bro you might be literally retarded. How fuck hard is it to just spam Overwatch every 5 tiles and have your sniper clear half the map while your specialist kills every robot in sight of you before they can even engage.

Literally just bring 1 sniper and 2 specialists and w/e the fuck else you want. Half the map is fucking robots so you just zap those bitches to death and have your sniper clear off anything else.

Like good lord, are you a literal downie.

Also X-Com 3 fucking when boys.

wish there was more variation of missions in xcom 2 besides
>deploy squad
>sprint through level bc timer
>kill things
>sprint to extract while avoind ayys
I really liked the maps that felt like I was busting down a fortress or the defend the avenger mission

...okay so I SHOULDN'T be trying to sneak in without detecing anyone and then high-tailing it out of there, right?

>Also X-Com 3 fucking when boys.
Hopefully announced later this year at that weird event that everybody is attending instead of the weird clusterfuck of fake E3. If they don't announce it, I shall be really sad.

>do you really just run up and set all your team to overwatch while having your best guy get only one shot in?
I only use overwatch traps when they walk into it on their turn. That way they have their activation turn when they run to cover and can't attack, get blasted by all my overwatch shots, and I get a full turn to finish them off. That's the most powerful way to wipe a pod but it only works if they're on patrol.
I never do the thing where you put all your team minus one on overwatch that break cover with your last man
t. beat the game on legendary

Savescum

I've seen someone do it that way, but it's a desperation move. The safest way is to creep forward and kill all ayys, if you leave them alive you'll probably get surrounded and die

>Also X-Com 3 fucking when boys.
>Jake confirmed earlier this year that he had nothing to do with Chimera Squad
>Teased a new game on his Twitter bio
Soon.

Oh cool, good idea, duh. Thanks

Imagine having a piece of code in the game made specifically to counter a move you made popular and named after you.

theres always gonna be a couple turrets
turrets can be cheesed pretty easily with grenades if there on top of a building
or you can save the grenade and just have a squadsight sniper take it out assuming you have a steathed dude with eyes on it
also theres always gonna be a reinforcement pod thats triggered by taking the vial so have all your dudes except the runner already outside and ready to overwatch them

So I can use squadsight to kill targets without being detected?

IIRC they act like they're in combat but they don't know where you are. That means if you enter their los they won't have to do that activation turn where they can't attack, they just shoot right away
Haven't played in over a year though
