DMC3 did, and none of them pretended to be anything intelligent, which is the problem. DmC tries to make the plot more complicated than it needs to be for a game like this. I also don't know why they decided to make neither of the characters related to humanity in any way. the angel shit is completely pointless to the story and removing it wouldn't affect much.
