To be honestly I don't really watch anime these days and have always cared more about the manga being adapted. 日常 was exceptionally well adapted because a lot of the jokes were given room to breathe, which is really risky for a non static medium, but the real magic is in the manga.

I think one of the best adaptations is Watamote. Everything about it is 100% on point and elevates the original material. Some of it was TOO on point to the degree of being physically painful to watch, and some of it was a great spin on what was there before, like the one happy moment in the whole thing where Tomoko walks home with the balloon.
