That's not an exposition dump tho, it's scattered in-world flavor, which is only ever accomplished through text or static / looping images. Prey's storytelling is mostly conveyed through in-game cut-scenes.

This is the most pathetic game on Zig Forums. Every aspect of it is stolen from a different, better game, even the title. How do Prey (2017) fans feel about this? And are you guys still trying to push "immersive sim" as a genre?

but that's unironically one of my favorite parts of these types of games. I read every text, every book, every document, every email in games like prey, deus ex, etc. because it helps to build the world and characters and help me understand what's going on.

Neat man, i'm picking this back up since i got to the grove / resort type area where you meet alex and dropped it. Just started playing other stuff and now i'm on pc and enjoying it.
For Prey players out there, what is the best skill line? For me I maxed out leverage instantly.

I never played it at launch but I do know the Bang Tydy stuff adds a new enemy type along with the Band Tydy ships.

The head clouds and the chav kids are just fast and obnoxious, the poop guys just fly away, and the specter and lady are just eye rolling, I either have to get spotted and just zap the asshole before shoving my shotgun up his asshole, or spamming bombs into a room full of shield ladies just to not deal with 'em.

It's still a great game and I love it and it's design and flavor. But you asked for good criticisms, I appreciate the search for it, and so here are mine.

It’s a rogue like that utilizes immersive sim type gameplay, but without any of the immersion or sim.

The lack of a story didn't bother me as much because from the get-go I understood that the game wasn't trying to be Bioshock or System Shock. It is very much a cooked-down version of those games with a bigger focus on gameplay. It is a rogue-lite first and foremost and the issues in the game are issues inherited from the rogue-lite genre. Not that the devs couldn't have set out to try and fix those.

That's a shame. I liked the artstyle, but it got very samey by the end, and I felt like I saw and experienced everything I needed to in one playthrough.
