Why are retrocucks obsessed with scanline bullshit? Scanlines are a myth. I have a Sony Wega CRT and I don't see any scanlines in it.

It's how arcade monitors looked running 240p games, and old people have arcades stuck in their subconscious as the "high end" of video games
240p has scanlines not 480i.
It has scanlines. I've got 4 Trinitron. They're not as dramatic as on most filters, those are based on
Scanlines are mostly a video game thing, the image size is half of what's normal and blank lines are used to fill out the entire screen.
You're probably watching something in full resolution
what's with CRT bait threads on Zig Forums instead of /vr/? you want to post photos of PS2 games on your CRT that they don't let you?
the majority of people who played games back then used RF/Composite and never saw scnalines. The people who like them aren't even nostalgiafags they're just dumb hipsters.
>I can't see thing right in front of me
>it's a myth
>and everyone who says otherwise are cucks
>fuck I better make sure they know
>I'll just say I was pretending to be retarded if I get called out
god you are the shitstain on the pinched asshole of a leprous, drooling goblina
I can't think of anything more pathetic than being one of those guys that's into modding old consoles and hooking their fucking 8-bit and 16-bit consoles into professional grade VGA monitors. Get a life.
...today I learned I'm an old person.
shit, you're right I forgot part of cancel culture is to also assert how you are superior than those who aren't you
my sony wega CRT clearly shows scanlines, bro
Nah those guys are based and are developing marketable skills from their hobbies
Stuff is great now too but some of the small attachments vidya had to real life were enjoyable for me.
Going to physical places just for games, seeing all the cabinets and eating the shitty fast food was pretty cool. Same thing with LAN parties and everything. Maybe younger people still bring laptops and consoles to each others houses to play local together idk but I doubt it for some reason.
Either stop watching it 5 cm from the screen or take it for repairs. I didn't even know scanlines existed until people brought up how much of a meme they are here.
What does anything in my post have to do with "cancel culture?"
>Some graphic designers toyed with these specificities and mastered the 0.5 dot technique. The word “pixel” translates in Japanese to “ドット” (”dot”). It seems that Hiroshi Ono (AKA Mr Dotman) was the first to use that word to describe his work, talking about dot-e (ドット絵, the “e” is the same as in “Ukiyo-e” and means picture) and dot character (ドットキャラクター or ドットキャラ) in the February 1983 issue of Namco NG.
>“It’s a technique where by slightly changing the color of surrounding pixels, to the human eye it looks like the pixels move by around 0.5 pixels.” explains Kazuhiro Tanaka, graphic designer on Metal Slug (1996). His colleague Yasuyuki Oda adds that “Back in the old days, we’d say [to our artists] "add 0.5 of a pixel”, and have them draw in the pixels by taking scanlines into account. But with the modern Full HD monitor, the pixels comes out too clearly and too perfectly that you can’t have that same taste.“
>Ayano Koshiro (Streets of Rage 2), Eiji Koyama (Galaxy Fight), Yoshinori Yamamoto (Marvel Vs Capcom) as well as some people who worked with Nobuyuki Kuroki at SNK said that they used this half pixel technique back in the day. Tatsuro Iwamoto, graphic designer on the first episodes of the Phoenix Wright / Gyakuten Saiban series released on Game Boy Advance, explained that he took account of that (sometimes unwanted) effect on Nintendo’s portable console.

if you can't even bother to connect two dots by rubbing a few brain cells together why the fuck should anyone even consider your opinion?
A part of me wants to believe that seeing scanlines on CRTs signifies poor quality. I saw My Life in Gaming's CRT video and all their high end PVM shit don't show scanlines at all and reproduce colour beautifully. I want to believe scanlines are just empty spaces since it was really hard to perfectly fill a CRT properly with all these other variables like screen size, gases in the tubes, the electron gun etc...
Whatever imaginary connection you are drawing between my post and "cancel culture" is in your head. You sound like a crazy person.
Cope post if I ever saw one
Off the internet, schizo.
50% scanlines are a good way to reduce overall brightness without reducing peak brightness
crt was bright but not because of a backlight like lcds
PVMs have very pronounced scanlines
Only zoomers use CRT filters and pretend as if that's what games looked like.
>can't abstract basic concepts, even popular concepts, and draw connections to their own statements or behaviors
>so call the one who can a crazy schizo
I get this every day, you think your life is hell try living in a world of fucking retards and "normal" people. Give me schizophrenia any fucking day.
Reminder that CRT is only one letter away from HRT

>japanese mastered the crt
>the japanese didnt try mastering the inceLED
OH NO NO
I hope you are joking. In case you aren't I wish you the best in your struggles with crack addiction.
arcades WERE the high end of video games until crysis came out. pc mustard faggotry is a relatively new phenomenon.
IF THERES EVER A PIXEL I CAN PLAINLY SEE
Literally every single one of those looks better than no filter, what was your point?
That's not how it works. I have a PVM with a late model year, fairly good geometry and excellent phosphors and I can definitely make out my scan lines. A lot of people who've never seen a scanline assumes it has to look like the hard lines BVMs produce, or that every video output will accentuate scanlines equally, which they don't.
Some people believe that the PVMs are better suited for retro vidya because you get the sharpness of a pro monitor, but not the BVM's harsh scanlines which can look "inauthentic" (but still more pronounced than consumer TVs, a perfect middle ground). It's all really down to preference in what you like best. I love my PVM.
I'm not, nor am I an addict. I can't read or listen to any statement without drawing connections to other things. I just can't. I've learned to fake a lot of shit but online I can say what I feel, and there's just a lot of stupid fucking unaware people online. Regardless, have the thread because all I'm doing is derailing it.
this.
i never even noticed them until indie games started using them as a thing,
nobody noticed scanlines unless you sat like 10 cms away from the tv, otherwise your eyes would just clean up the image into one clean whole and you would get a clear picture.
Have sex
>nobody noticed scanlines unless you sat like 10 cms away from the tv,
They noticed the "look" though. A lot of people can look at an image of a CRT and an LCD and tell you they look different but they might not be able to tell you why exactly they look different.
