I don't understand why the Gay characters were written so bad in TLOU 2

Bill was great representation, in my opinion.

That's an opinion.

Yeah, but its an opinion thats shared by a lot of people on Zig Forums

The TLOU 2 part at least.

>representation
Why do dummies think an entire sexuality can or should be represented by one character? Bill was great precisely because he wasn't a "gay character," but because he was a great character who also happened to be gay.

And look at that, neither leftoids nor rightoids have a problem with him.

This isn't discrete math, faggot, go back to your autism crib

You are hurling insults towards me.

Why, because you found him relatable?

Yeah that's what I think, his character was not defined by his sexuality. Thats good representation.
Only because he was gay and not a stereotype.

Because they are hollow shells in the shape of a person and the only thing they can latch onto that's even close to a personality is their preference of genitalia.

Dina was a shit addition to the series.

>Oh look, this character is gay but he does not flaunt his homosexuality
At this point actual flaming faggot character would be more original

It's not "representation" at all, he's a charismatic, abrasive guy who incidentally happens to be gay. Why are you so eager to be defined by fictional characters? Or your sexuality? Be your own person, man.

she was alright, what I kinda didn't like was seeing her and ellie as teen moms so soon
like, I wouldn't have any problems with them being moms in their mid twenties or in part 3 but it was the only thing that felt forced imo

gay people are nasty xD

Games are not made to "represent" people.

Speaking of gay does the mom from the jergins commercials want to fuck her daughter or what??

I think we have different idea of representation.
I don't NEED a gay person in fiction to feel accepted or whatever. I couldn't care less if there was no gay characters in TLOU at all. But its nice to see one that exists, especially one that isn't a shitty stereotype.
Games are not made to represent people they are made to tell stories or to entertain, the story of TLOU happens to involve a well written gay character.

games should be all about what hole you stick it in

I agree with all of that. What I don't agree with is the idea that a character can or should "represent" an entire group of people. That's the concept you keep referring to.

I guess I meant more that he is a realistic portrayal of a gay person not a representation of the whole crowd.

Something happened in the studio during TLoU1 development. The DLC is proof that there was a massive shift in writers with multiracial neon arcade-punk lesbian Ellie.

Almost all of the gay people I've known chose to act like one-dimensional stereotypes. If anything, Bill is inaccurate representation.

I don't know any gay people other than myself, and I don't think I act like this. I guess the non stereotype gays are probably just more quiet, compared to the much louder one-dimensional stereotype.

Yeah, that's a fair point.

This. Representation faggots don't care if a character is good at all, just that they're gay/brown. So we end up with carbon copies of the same sassy black chick with an afro over and over again, and ironically the people complaining about the "generic brown haired protag" applaud this as diverse

Bill was so based.

Why is it that your chances of running into an LGBTQ person increases tenfold when you run into a zombie apocalypse? Same thing happened in Walking Dead. Do LGBTQ people have a higher survival rate during zombie apocalypses.

The entire story was written terribly and the decisions Ellie, Abby and Joel make throughout made no sense.

Yeah there was a significant drop off in writing quality in TLOU 2, among other things.

Wait hang on when was Bill gay?
I just played through that section of LoU and I don't remember him ever mentioning sucking dick.

It was pretty subtle, He mentioned a partner he ran the town with, which alone isn't much, but when you find frank's body and give Bill the hidden note in the garage his reaction is quite severe for just a mere partner.
Also in the next scene Ellie is looking a gay porn mag she found at Bill's place.

Representation. That is the issue. The problem with Representation in video games (and entertainment as a whole) is that it prioritizes "representation," not good writing. By having to prioritize writing time for a checklist of different races or groups, those characters become nothing more than caricatures of what they represent. It's tokenism, something the left hates, yet they applaud it when is done under the word "Representation." You obviously can have well written [insert your favorite minority group here], as long as Representation isn't their sole reason for being in the story in the first place. That's just bad writing.

You seriously haven’t figured it out?
When feminists and shit say “the male fantasy” they refer to what a typical heterosexual male power fantasy entails. Asserting yourself, proving yourself, kicking some ass, getting the girl, et cetera.
When they say “gay representation”, they want what is essentially a gay power fantasy. They want the most obnoxiously proud gay character who flaunts their gayness to the world, is treated as right for doing so, and has an attractive lover who makes all the straight people in the room of the opposite sex jealous.
That’s why so many of these gay characters are so obnoxious, they’re just the personification of the daddy issues of the male audience.
It’s the same with the reason we always see female characters like Rey or Captain Marvel. The male power fantasy tends to involve proving yourself against great odds, the satisfaction of beating something or someone greater than you.
The female power fantasy often involves “I could do it all along.”
The problem is we only acknowledge one of the three as a type of power fantasy
