Why should a consumer care about the workspace of the company that makes games...

Why should a consumer care about the workspace of the company that makes games? Why should we care if it's ethically made?

Voting with your wallet + human empathy = why you should care

By promoting cultural standards where employers in general (not just video games, but every industry) feel pressured to treat their employees well, you make it more likely that your own employers will treat you decently.

because corrupt people want to use it as an excuse to take over and introduce more corrupt unions

Because if game companies piss off their staff enough, they will unionize which will drive the price of games up.

But I dont care about that? I want a good product. The best possible product. Are you retarded?

Hope you don't wear any Nike or pretty much any other clothes. They are made in sweat shops by kids.

dont you ever get tired of arguing with intellectual dishonesty? Are you jewish perchance?

Basic human decency?

Crunched deadlines is what led to Fallout 76. Corporate meddling is what led to micro transactions and DLC. It's why developer burnout is so high and why games are so shit these days.

No, you are begging the question. Your claim is that "more happy employees = better game". This is objectivelly wrong. Witcher 3 and GTA 4 and 5 all had huge crunch problems and depressive breakdowns of staff.

I am but i don't see how that has to do with anything whatsoever

Rushing devs to pump shit out as fast as possible won't lead to a good product dumbass

If the staff don't like it, they should quit and let the company die by it's own belt looped over the closet door knob.

Outsourcing the entire game to several companies that didn't communicate with each other at all about their tasks or progress is what caused Fallout 76.

>Why should we care if it's ethically made?

Because of ethics. You answered your own question.

Witcher 3 wants to have a chat with you.
GTA IV and V want to have a chat with you.
Red Dead Redemption 1 & 2 want to have a chat with you.

>Your claim is that "more happy employees = better game".
Really?
Then youre just at the bottom of the totem pole boyo, still have the ingrained genetic lack of empathy.

You're either an underaged zoomer or a third worlder.

Because it lowers the quality of the product you receive, increases the likelyhood that the talent required to make the product will fuck off to another industry entirely, ensures jobs are retained in the west and not entirely farmed out to india/china, in turn lowering the quality of the product.

I mean are you fucking retarded or have you literally never had a job?

t.left the games industry a decade ago to earn 4 times as much working half the hours in the aerospace industry.

Because unlike you the rest of us work for a living and understand what working for some fat cock sucker is like. Fuck the suits.

>muh humanity !!!
If you work at an office job, you don't suddenly think about the moral and ethical treatment of McDonald workers and how it's your moral obligation to save them against an evil tyrant. Why do game devs suddenly get special treatment when nobody else does. Do you also tip the poor waiters?

>Work for one of the biggest and best game developers in the world that publishes some of the highest quality AAA games ever
>Piss and moan that you have to work hard and frequent hours to reach that level of renown

What the shit do these dipshit code monkeys expect when they join companies like Rockstar, a fucking cakewalk? Go churn out a dime-a-dozen pixel art indie title instead if you can't handle the crunch, dumbass.

cant be a consumer if youre not a worker luhmao

This is why you will never reach anything but boring average. The fruits of excellency will forever be a mystery to you and everyone with your blood.

I don't think it affects the quality of the product in most cases, but I do care a lot about this. I care because I care about other people, and I don't want anyone to have to endure crunch for my entertainment. It seems cruel and unnecessary.

I'm too based to care about ethics in game development, especially since a lot of the people working on these games probably have awful twitter takes that would make me want to watch them suffer anyway, but there is a case to be made that entertainment industries are at their best and most soulful when the people working on a thing had actual fun making a thing.

>If you work at an office job, you don't suddenly think about the moral and ethical treatment of McDonald workers and how it's your moral obligation to save them against an evil tyrant.
Speak for yourself schlomo

non autistic people care

You will never be a woman.

>Red Dead Redemption 2 want to have a chat with you.

You mean the game full of game breaking bugs, glitchy AI, glitchy physics and choc full of shitty low quality sweatshop indian art?

Attached: MUHAAA.jpg (1920x1080, 584.01K)

if its so bad they can leave.
choosing to work at a bad company is the fault of the person working that job, they are allowed to leave

Those games were good in spite of deadlines not because of them. But it's clear you're either a retard or trolling.

Nah my parents are rich and I'm an only child. Enjoy earning your keep while I inherit it lmao.

I stopped buying branded shoes and clothes when I first seen children slaves that make them for less than a dollar a day.
Last game I bought was in 2012.

>Do you also tip the poor waiters?
...yes?

>thinking the company being big means absolutely anything
Most software developers working for banks or other small businesses make 3x what game devs are making and work 1/3 of the time.
Everywhere else in the world where you work with a computer has a better work ethic than vidya.

i guess you op also don't mind child exploitation aka labour and sexsual slavery because these are also unethical work related things

No, they were good because people literally bled for them, almost ruining their own lives and being, to create something that will be remembered by history - or at least try.

You will just die in irrelevancy instead (like everyone else in your family tree).

Says the NEET. I love how obese brainlets that live with their parents think they're better than anyone.

compassion for other people but don't worry nobody actually really cares about this kind of stuff they just pretend to on twitter, nobody out there is boycotting all the products made in chinese sweatshops by children and muslim slaves

I dunno, it’s the same argument EGSfags make that because devs get a bigger cut there than Steam we are morally obligated to support it. Why do I give a fuck who gets what cut? Steam is a superior service and that’s all that matters.

this
cringe

all suck

constant crunch leads to shit games, see the last of us 2 and fallout 76

Because the games will get better. Crunch is good for nothin it just stresses out employees and all for what? The game that was already going to be good gets shrinking horse nuts nobody will ever notice? A game that was always going to be shit gets forced out anyway for a bunch of morons to buy because bioware?

>when work is all u ever do, 12+ hr days etc
>no time to think only sleep
>problem solving ability is drastically lowered

>when u work a leisurely shift
>go home to do hobby while pondering work problem
>get eureka moment because of some random inspiration makes everything click into place
>go to work next day and solve problem that would take the workaholic version 4 months to figure out

>You mean the game full of game breaking bugs, glitchy AI, glitchy physics and choc full of shitty low quality sweatshop indian art?
You mean a normies wet dream cowboy shooter that many claim is GOTYAY? Yes, yes I do mean RDR2

You're right OP. This stinks of corporate/bureaucrat crap that, when it takes over, sucks out all the soul from the company.

No gamer should fucking care about any game company's fucking human resources issues. I don't pay them to run the company, only for their product. If you give me a crappy game, I'll stop buying.

The most I should know about creators' studios is when I'm watching a how it's made feature.

Hahahahahahahahahahaahaaha, GTA 6 is following FF7R’s episodic format

Don’t like working 100 hour work weeks? Get a real job like the rest of us. Be grateful you have that choice, because you wouldn’t in a third world shithole.

>doing anything else while working on the biggest project of your life
Yep, you're a brainlet loser who will always be below average.

This unironically. Theres more money for less stress in indie games

Yeah and fuck trannies! Reddit was right to send me hear love this board already thanks OP fuck niggers to XD

The very same wetdream with character art worse than fucking PS2 games because of crunch and outsourcing to india?

Yikes.

Attached: WETDREAM.jpg (1920x1080, 416.82K)

gta iv was already episodic with dlcs

You will never be a woman.

>you don't suddenly think about the moral and ethical treatment of McDonald workers and how it's your moral obligation to save them against an evil tyrant.

I work a unionized labor job and I make a conscious decision to support pro-labor businesses

never thought of it that way. interesting way to put it

Happier devs = better games. Look at ubishit, you can tell their devs are treated like shit because their games are fucking miserable. You can just feel that it was made by clockpunchers. I want to escape from clockpunchers.
