Finally bought Sword and the season pass

I haven't played Pokemon since the originals on my GameBoy Light.

What am I in for?

>the originals
Unironically better. Enjoy your kino

It's fucking Pokemon, better graphics (lol), better story (lol) but you play Pokemon for the monster collecting. Tldr it's Pokemon HD.

anything i should know ahead of time like don't throw away this or don't waste that

Well you already threw away your money, so too late for that.

you already wasted your money, the damage is done
also it's the most dumbed down rpg in the decade so don't worry about strategies, you legitimately have to play bad on purpose to lose

Came here just to say this. Should've asked here before buying.

>buying the expansion pass before playing the game

I was going to buy anyways. I wasn't looking for a review

/thread

the game doesn't let you throw away key items and you can hold 999 of regular items

kek

everyone always gangs up on me. i just wanted to play a game. why is the world so hurtful

Buy BW2. It’s when Pokémon peaked

the game is pretty generous with resources. TMs have infinite use, and you can always buy more TRs or get them from raid battles.

Seconded. Best story and good pokemon (both old and new).

My only tip is to lower your expectations to absolute floor before starting

if he hasn't played Pokemon since the gameboy games then he'll probably like it.

You could have played any other GBC, GBA, DS, or GameCube Pokémon game and you would’ve had a better time than you’ll have with Sword.

nice, you got robbed

lol what pokemon has a season pass now? jesus christ

A fraction of older game's amount of content for several times the their prices.

>he spent $90 for an incomplete and rushed upscaled 3DS game

Mash A through all dialog
Use only old pokemon
Never get off your bike
Come back and complain about how pokemon is dead

Catch Eternatus in a heal ball and don't put it or Zacian in your party until you can e.v train them with Pokejobs.

It's the worst value/content to money ratio in the series, and also extremely hand-holdy and restrictive, making every route, cave and dungeon-like area completely linear while also constantly pointing you exactly where you have to go as if you were an ADHD-ridden 6 year old. It also continues to shove its bad, insipid story and bland characters in your face with constant interruptions to talk to you about being the best and shit, just let Leon handle the interesting story beats instead. It's also extremely easy up until maybe the champion fight, and butt ugly for 80-90% of the time.

Better than gen 1, worse than gen 4.

Kek, nice job, faggot. GF really knows how to get easy money from you nostalgiafags.

Sorry OP. I know you wanted legit answers, but these shitposts are a testiment to how piss easy the game is. Absolutely no strategy is needed to play this game, and there are no secrets or “builds” to speak of. Just catch and use the Pokémon that look cool and you will win no problem. That’s it.

Why is it you dumbasses who buy this game never do any research or are just fags who haven't played since the GBC games? Well, have fun playing a $90 game with less content than a GBA pokemon game from 2004.

>someone asks a question
>people give answers
>"You're all shitposting!"
I can smell your buyer's remores.

pokemon sword just finished downloading. sayonara faggots

It's best to explore the new games knowing as little as possible. Just discover some new Pokemon, discover things in the wild area and the isle of armor, etc.

It's easily the worst in the series since ORAS but conversely, the Isle of Armor might be one of my favorite sequences in all of Pokemon.
Standalone areas where you can explore, capture some rare Pokemon, and go through a decent sized story bit are really where Pokemon really shines. (such as the Sinnoh island or Sevii Islands)
