They're rare and difficult to find depending on your interests, but there are good threads with discussion out there, and those are better than anywhere else. This is even true for off-topic stuff.

I'm not sure Zig Forums can be fixed with people like this in charge.
The only reason this place is considered the best is that you can freely state an opinion without being judged besides specific posts in a thread, not a larger presence you have. It frees you from the shackles of transmutation judgement, which is plague in modern online discussion. Fuck. I'd rather deal with shitposts than every action being judged based on my opinion on other, unrelated factors. It's like an online tax you pay for having opinions elesewhere
I just don't really have anywhere else to go and quite frankly, despite all its shortcomings which are a result of its users for the most part ( Fuck Captchas though but even that could be argued as an issue still existing because of certain users ), I just really like the layout of Zig Forums: It's nice to browse & loads really quick and the IMG/Text balance is good.
Digging through the shit to find stuff like people sharing what Vidya they've been playing recently, or long running franchise threads ( as long as the reason for it being up isn't Tortanic related, more or less ) among others, are my favorite means of discussing Vidya.
I do wonder however, why there are so many people who just use this site to shitpost and seem like refugees from other websites. Clearly, if you're doing this sort of thing, it's either that you're bored and have some free time, and if so, fair enough I guess, but if you do spend a lot of time on Internet elsewhere that's not gaming, you must realize that your behavior more or less hints that the way Internet is these days has flaws & isn't as fullfilling as could be?
I see Zig Forums as hope, at least conceptually speaking. Everything else just sickens me to more or less extent.

I've probably invested in the wrong fandoms/series when at least 5 of them have had their threads devolve into ERP
It's the closest thing to old newsgroups we got. Anonymous messaging without fluff that gets deleted after its old news, lots of general file discussion and sharing though the latter is done through other sites.
Is that why I haven't seen them in a while? Such a shame, they were one of the most positive things about Zig Forums.
