I'm trying to figure out what would actually be different if the secret was revealed early on. I imagine Cloud wouldn't have had quite as severe a breakdown, and otherwise their mission would have continued as normal. Maybe Sephiroth wouldn't have been able to exert as much influence over Cloud in the long run, but I think all of the important story beats would have still happened.

In the Japanese version Hojo doesn't get the full sentence out. You can thank the localization for that.

People who dislike the game can't make their points without the discussion being deflected into something about XV because the people who like the game can't seem to be able to defend it in an actual discussion.
People who like the game don't seem to have anything to say other than telling us they like Tifa.

Personally I'm curious about how SE plan to keen people excited about this series that will (at the very least) take 10 years to complete when the hype for the most anticipated game of all time seemed to fade a month before it even came out. I'm looking forward to seeing what Part 2 is like but worried the only way they'll be able to keep people strung along is with TWISTS like Zack and Biggs being alive. I don't want them to tell it differently just for the sake of doing something different. I want them to have thought about it and have a reason to do it beyond "bet you didn't see that coming!" because it will lessen the replay value. I want a good story. Different, sure, but I still want it to be good.

I'm fine with the time jannies and zack being alive and sephiroth time travelling and all that shit, as long as they do something good with it. I just don't want to feel like it's being made up as they go along. the original game had a story that was decided on before they went into development. I don't want to spend 15 years on the remake story only for it to get more convoluted and nonsensical because they keep throwing things in along the way.

Imagine being so traumatized by the ending that you have to angrily shitpost about it 24/7.
