The purpose of art is conceptualizing your creative ides, only in a strictly capitalist sense could that equate to a failure, only problem is that we're not robots and the world doesn't hinge on the capitalism. The only failures in this life are the people who do nothing with their lives, stay at home and have no dreams of their own to pursue.

I don't know, were their claims to fame abandoning their original medium and shitting on their former award organizations while presenting a speech during an award ceremeony for another? You're ignoring context and going off-topic. There's nothing amusing about his speech when you put everything into context. If it was just some vidyafag shitting on the Oscars for being bad, that'd be one thing. This is a filmmaker who abandoned his medium in favor of another after not getting the recognition he wanted and venting on an unrelated platform.
One "hit" in a small country and several bombs that lead to leaving the the medium is definitely failure. His speech was pathetic and his intent transparent. The amusement factor goes out the window when you see the full picture.

It's not. It's known for the scene where that dude beats up a bunch of criminals and shoots a gun with his crotch. The movie as a whole was universally panned and was a massive stinker. I remember watching it in theaters as a kid because they put that scene in the trailer and baited the viewer into thinking it'd be fun, which it wasn't.
He can be based when he makes The Last Story 2.

Kojima's recent efforts are better than anything out of Itagaki since NG2, for all their problems. NGB and NG2 are fantastic games, for sure, but then he just stopped making good stuff, and he wasn't exactly making great stuff before the NG reboot.
