The simple fact of the matter is some guy in his bedroom does not have what real developers have: decades of experience, industry veterans guidance, a professional environment, collaboration with some of the best musicians and artists in the world, a director who was working in games before you were born and yeah...money. Money is required to make Metal Gear Solid 3, The Legend of Zelda - The Wind Waker, Ico, Dragon's Dogma, Resident Evil 4 etc. The only people impressed by indies are literal underage children who weren't alive when the game their favourite indie rips off came out, and people with 0 taste, people who just enjoy everything they play.
>examples of good AAA games are all from the 6th and 7th generation yes and if you want to play new games I would recommend taking a look at the indie genre someday
Charles Foster
At what point does an indie game become a real game then? And does the same apply to similar media like films and music?
Angel Ross
you're an absolute fucking idiot and your opinion holds no value whatsoever. die in a fire
Ian Rodriguez
We already had these thread the last week, with the same pasta and pic, fuck off
>At what point does an indie game become a real game then? Never
Kayden Ortiz
Why would I play new games? They're garbage, and indies are the smelliest, nastiest garbage in the pile.
Brandon Brooks
Make me faggot
Cry more you underage queer. If you didn't grow up with a PS1 you're subhuman.
Juan Anderson
Doom was an an indie game
Jackson Adams
>games aren't games Okay retard
Nolan Mitchell
but user, worms armageddon was an indie game
Dylan Ross
Made by John Carmack, who worked for publishers on over 20 games
Daniel Young
And Doom was still indie and he only got into the industry after the fact. Sorry OP, you got owned.
James Edwards
id was entirely an indie company that distributed through bigger publishers
Luke Perez
Space Invaders is an indie game Pac Man is an Indie game Metroid is an indie game
Levi King
you're implying the bioware cunts are the same neckbeards from the 80's
David Nelson
>And Doom was still indie and he only got into the industry after the fact That's a flat out lie.
He was employed by REAL companies on 20 games.
John Murphy
>id was entirely an indie company It had a team size for its time appropriate to any big name developer.
Try making Doom 2016 with 8 guys.
Daniel Bennett
CDPR is an indie dev.
Eli Adams
> t.remus
Caleb Morales
>doom 2016 why do you idiots bring up some irrelevant shit always If I'm talking about id being indie it's clearly going to be in the 90s when they were Read for once in your life before saying dumb shit
Elijah Davis
You should be proud that this dumb troll thread got 400 replies that one time. If I were you, I would pivot to a different but related OP.
Nicholas Fisher
It's strange you talk about underage children because I could swear you are one.
Luis Peterson
This is the worst take i've ever seen
Dominic Wood
Would you rather play Dead Rising 4 or Undertale?
Lincoln Rivera
Indies are game in their purest form, made with true passion by people fully invested in their creation, no matter how bad or good it is. AAA are just marketing heavy trash targetting the lowest common denominator and tailored to attract people who basically know nothing about this hobby, made by people who only care about their paycheck at the end of the month and have no real interest in the new trash their are making. They would probably all flock to other project if the pay was bigger.
Lucas Bell
Bad take, OP.
Daniel Nelson
Why do all the "consider the following" posters always have the most batshit retarded takes on the site? Holy fuck this is dumb
Justin Martin
Who?
Charles Anderson
Refute my point.
Doom's team size was no smaller than any big budget game back in the 90's.
Chase Peterson
Dead Rising 4.
I'd rather sit in an empty room for 6 months than play undertale.
Ryan Diaz
What is Opus Magnum ripping off?
Hudson Bennett
That's not a video game.
Ryder Richardson
Indie games are the only medium actually pushing a unique product and has been for the past decade. If it wasnt for Indie games we'd be stuck in the absolutely cancerous "3rd person story" and "1st person FPS" endless cycle forever with no escape. We need smaller companies digging for niches and markets so that bigger ones realise there are other fucking options.
Mason Johnson
So... when the game industry was new, nothing was video games? Mario was made with a year or two of experience. Is Mario not a real game now? Either Donkey Kong, Mario Bros., or Super Mario Bros., none of them are "real games"?
>518040415 (OP) recycled bait post, i remember seeing this before you don't even deserve a (you) from this shit you lazy sack of sentient garbage
Aiden Cox
... But it is? It's a game that you play the same as any AAA, except with more meaningful user generated content and less paid DLC.
Jose Allen
So you're saying indie developers are stuck 30 years in the past and can't progress. Got it.
Thomas Nelson
"Decades of experience" have given us microtransactions, season passes, lootboxes, and budgets so horrendously bloated that devs now want to charge 70 dollars for games, while still keeping all of their moneygrubbing schemes intact. I wouldn't be surprised if the prices shot up to 100 dollars in the future.
Meanwhile, indies can make better games on a shoestring budget and charge maybe 10 bucks total?
>But it is? It's a programming simulator, not a game.
Julian Fisher
No, I'm saying that indie developers who have a few years of experience in a world where a bunch of tools and tutorials exist explicitly for game design, and better hardware, can produce BETTER than what new game devs 30 years ago could, and those game devs 30 years ago produced things you'd be retarded to call "not real games". Therefore, indie games are real games.
