Honestly one of the best games I've ever played. Most people talk shit about serial shooters but very few understand the amount of work, planning and effort involved.

Mostly if you start shooting at random a lot of people will be able to escape you by running in different directions which is why you want to start unloading in densely packed areas to get the highest score (kills per square meter per second). Also when breaking into houses to kill the entire fucking family within you need to do it in a relatively timely manner so 1) you don't have to chase some asswipe teenager across his backyard with a knife if he jumps through the back window quick enough and 2) you don't necessarily want to be surrounded by the cops (even if you're in a compound like that).

House parties are great because the lights and blaring music can mask your machine gun fire. Grenades work great in these and store environments as well.

Another thing, 5-10 minutes of mass shooting everyone can be tiring and the shooter kind of needs to conserve his energy if he doesn't want to overexert himself. The game tries to counter that by "healing" your character if you slaughter people like common pigs with your knife instead of just shooting them (very tasteful animations involved btw, I just don't know how slitting someone's throat is supposed to heal your gun wound some pesky donut cop gave you). Personally I think having energy drinks and snacks available at the local store you crash would have been a better alternative.

In conclusion, games like TLOUII can't compare to mind opening games like Hatred. While one puts you in the shoes of someone you really knew very little about but can understand and even sympathize with by the end of the game the other forces leftist dogshit down your throat with pregnant women doing parkour, lesbians and macho women eviscerating highly trained survivors in an apocalyptic world.
