Never played it.
One that no one says much about but I like very much is Grand Baazar. The mechanics are fun, the city is cool and it has the best girl of the whole series, Freya.
I also gave a chance for Trio of Towns but I did not liked it. That red neck city is just horrendous.

It was like Animal Crossing but with waifus constantly in your face. There were nice elements, sure, but they were so small and weak and the focus was entirely on getting a waifu to marry you.
Story of Seasons is the good one.
It's the OG Harvest Moon team, they just don't have the IP anymore.
New Harvest Moon is a different team and mediocre at best.

A Wonderful Life. My first and favorite.
Back when we were young, my cousin and I use to play it together. We took turns taking care of the crops and animals. She and I have a lot of fond memories of this game.
ps2 version is poorly ported and has no new content worth calling it special. gamecube version has stability and cross content with fomt if you have a gameboy adapter.

I agree with what he says, but none of the recent HM or SoS games have any good character relationships or character developments. And growing crops and raising animals hasn't improved in a decade. Unfortunately, Stardew Valley shits all over Harvest Moon in all aspects.
Stardew Valley characters aren't nearly as fun or interesting, which is ironically the unintended main appeal of the genre.
I think nostalgia goggles have made you blind. I'm not, by any chance, saying that Stardew Valley characters are any good. They're pretty shit. But still they're better than what we've got in the latest SoS games.
It's fun, but a more basic harvest moon/story of seasons again(seeing as it is a remake of an early one), without numbers to raise on everything.
If you played the original it is that but with some welcome QoL changes and some weird changes i could have done without(animals only having 5 maximum hearts, only going up by one if you breed them, and teleshopping and calling them via the phone in the inn being gone, the cooking tools just appear in the general store).
overall i think it's fun.
I liked grand bazaar because the way to make money was all up to you.
