How are all you psy mains enjoying the new update? Thoughts? Comments? Criticisms? Let's hear it!
UnderRail New Update
>You doing a psi build there buddy?
>You might be tempted to just spec Metathermics and Psychokinesis seeing as the other two are useless, but I put in a 10% synergy on all the psi skills to encourage you to spec all four of them : )
>Wait.. did you just spec all four of them?
>NOOOOOO YOU'RE NOT PLAYING MY GAME THE RIGHT WAY YOU WERE ONLY SUPPOSED TO PICK ONE YOUR BUILD IS WRONG
Always thought chemical pistols are inferior to plasma shenanigans in every way possible desu.
They work really really well together, desu
I think it's great. Psi is still very strong (still too strong, imo, but I'll take it), but now you have to at least think and prepare, which is how it should be. The sniper nerf seemed weird at first but I'm starting to wrap my head around it. Crit power is still OP.
forget psi, what about muh 400% crit damage
>The sniper nerf
It's just no more two-shot per turn min-max builds, right?
>put lore into game
>punish people who seek transcending the Underrail(TM)
Necessary for certain weapons to be viable, should be toned way down for others though you're right.
Started new TM/PK trapper. It's still extremely strong build and the only annoying thing is that psi reserve runs out pretty fast and you need large amounts drug inhalers with you.
Does psi nerf means lunatics won't oneshot my 20 con juggernaut anymore? Probably not, right?
Discord trannies are dragging the collective of players to the center.
They only changed how much defense you gain from will. You'll probably get PRONKd if you're mid level will.
Pure psi builds are dead and I can still easily dip 55-70 points in tm with no new downsides bravo styg.
not reliably, no
you can actually do even more with shooting spree now, but only if you're continually successful, and the spearhead is no longer the go-to sniper rifle but more of a hybrid one
Any thoughts on the psy nerf having something to do with a yet to be revealed system in the upcoming DLC?
what? This whole thing is just a ploy to make Lunatic Psychopath(dagger + thought control) build viable. Psychokinesis and meathermics is basically useless now.
But tm is like the coolest thing in the game. It even makes evasion somewhat viable, which is a true miracle by itself.
will old saves be compatible with the new update?
Alright fine I'm finally gona try this game, is there something I should know? I dont even know the genre or gameplay but you guys wont shut up that its amazing
Yeah, how it works is described in the release notes
So, Tranquility is the new way to go for pure psi?
Psychosis' psi cost is fucking insane now if you go all four schools.
srry
First time to the genere? Normally I wouldn't suggest it but you may want to try playing on game journalist mode. The hardest difficulty is brutal even for those of us who have been playing these games for 20 years.
ant image, does it look fine on desktop? im phonefaggin rn
kek
well look online for some kind of build u wanna try— or something u think would work well. then we can talk!
In this thread you're playing only on oddity/dominating difficulty. Or at least you should learn to lie about it and sound convincing.
they're nod dead you fucking shitter
you just have to plan what spells to use in a given battle
Nah, my first run was on normal. Second was DOMINATING. Made it to core city and wasn't having fun, cranked it down to hard and that's where I've been playing since.
i will only accept this change to psi if the enemy has to abide by the same rules
>pure psi
That's not how you're supposed to play it, fucko
They are not human. You are.
EVERYTHING MUST BE HYBRIDS
they're really fucking dead
What the fuck did they do
arent the lunatics also gimped then???
filtered shitter
Well, my first complete run was on dom, I think. But sometimes I play on easy just to try these shizo builds and get away with it.
Infusion looks like a really cool project. But it seem years away.
I dont think I have patience for a new run.
Pure psi works still well. Yes, even without grenades and traps.
>lore
Spoonfeed me on tchort
I know it is a bunch of mutated biocorp scientists fused together and amplified psi by mutagen. Does it count as artificial Leviathan because it has somewhat human basis?
There is a pleb filter about 2 hours into the game called Depot A. There are a dozen ways to deal with it. Most people think they are the terminator and try to brute force their way through. You aren't and you'll die. If you can get through it, you can get through the rest of the game.
The changes don't apply to any NPC.
I want to try that new exoskeleton, even if its bad.
What build would go with it stat-wise and thematically? combat gloves?
>the other two are useless
what?
It essentially became possessed by a Leviathan.
I want a system shock game in this setting with the same depth.
You heard me.
how do u know they became possessed?
also is flotto— whatever the fuck that is. Is that a leviathan too? it’s a literal space serpent
how is tc useless
Yeah, they work fine enough together. I made a mad scientist (more flavor than a real theorycrafted build), that used chem pistols, plasma, grenades, drugs, and really good shields while just wearing a lab coat. I beat it on Hard, don't think it could do dominating without actually attempting to optimize.
I think I hacked the turrets and they killed most of the enemy. I love how the game encourages this and traps with the oddity system.
he's retarded or just looking for attention
Six's dialog in the elevator.
Ah, kinda like organic shadowlith from abyssal station?
No. Leviathans are creatures that utterly transcend dimensions and pathetic shit like mortality. Flotsomir is a true leviathan: an interdimensional serpent feeding on a quasar or a sentient quasar that wants to devour all the stars in space.
>Depot A
is it a optional area?
No, it could be but it's entirely it's own thing. There is no real evidence beyond implication. I'll give you its knowledge of the Godmen is suspect but Biocorp knew about them more than Azif ever did.
>I love how the game encourages this and traps with the oddity system.
it doesn't
How so?
I only played once and felt that way.
Oh, no, not even remotely.
whats this from
oh right. and the mouth kinda talked like it was a leviathan— or at least had the same knowledge level (if not higher) than that of azif. hmmm
FFFFINAL BOSS OF UNDERRAIL 2??
how hard is it?
Yeah, about that.
>but Biocorp knew about them
So people knew about aliens and shit before descend?
and getting enemies to fight each other
Your first time? Kind of a litmus test of if your build is going to survive the rest of the game. Once you understand the mechanics more you can generally survive it.
I need to buy this game already, but I keep buying TBS games and never play them. I could never get into the old fallouts either.
Sucks when a game looks great but you have adhd.
if you dont play like a retard and its your first time it’ll be mildly difficult. there are many routes
Not necessarily. The corps likely kept that to themselves. Also, pretty sure most of the world was underground by the point of the Hollow Earth incident.
he's being a butthurt shitter, just ignore him
I just find Abib's autistic hypocrisy to be more entertaining than the issue itself. For those who aren't aware, Abib is a Zig Forums janny.
Abib:
- Doesn't want to move/contain the abundence of Smash threads to /vg/ since it's a "cultural phenomenon"
- Singles out a singular thread that is seemingly structured like a general thus takes effort into moving it
- Justifies the moving by exagggeratingly saying "your thread is the same everyday. same posts. same same same" yet leaves several other threads that fit his description: DoA threads, Console-tan Tuesdays, Drawthreads, Titty Tuesday/Thursday/Funbag Friday threads, Vidya Ass/Tits thread, any thread that's a fapbait for dumping images of waifus
- Deflected into a fit when someone suggested that he do his fucking job
It's obvious that it's a combination of understaffing, bias and lazyness all masked as "justafiable" excuses. Even the fucking b4k archives are laughing at him because whenever you go there, the thread that originally kicked this whole thing off is smack dab on the front page of the site. These mods are as corrupt as corrupt can be and when they do end up stating their reasonings is chuckle worthy.

Azif wouldn’t do that
I don't even understand what the fucking point was. The problem, as I saw it, was mainly that psi was too useful to just dip into and augment your build, to the point where it's not really an interesting build choice. You don't sacrifice anything meaningful to grab forcefield or even contraction. I actually like forcefield having health, that could've just scaled with skill, making it a sort of useful thing if you've barely invested, to actually being useful if you're maxing it every level. Same with contraction, just make the AP scale with skill investment. I think scaling in this way, for all Psi skills, would've solved all the Psi problems people had. Instead, Psi is just more annoying to use, and full Psi builds are completely gimped. When I read the patch notes I went into GoG and turned off updates, I'm still in the middle of a psi only build.
I don't understand how you could say psi was OP or offered too much utility for the investment. How about all the things that every single build uses that require zero to absolutely minimal investment to be useful? Molotovs, traps, grenades, flashbangs? Tin Can AR is still braindead. Fun, but braindead. I feel like I'm just jinxing myself here and Styg is hard at work removing all possible fun he can from the game.
Follow up question, how much should I pay attention to the story? I always thought people play this game for the setting/gameplay/exploration and builds. Do I just go full autism and read every single bit of text?
Jinroh Wolf Brigade
There's no way Biocorp would know the term "high one."
oh wait shit
I'd say this godmen-leviathans shit is rather unrefined. No point in giving it too much thought.
I'm sure they wouldn't with all those monoliths they had access to and experimented with to create eternal life.
traps and shit are just as effective on classic.
Game is very sparse and ambiguous with the dialogue.
Very nice prose.
You dont have walls of text, you start to pick up the setting from the people factions and specific cultural name branding.
Could not care less about metaboard nonsense
Most story revealed in a final part of the game through logs ending on cliffhanger
>Neural overload
Completely inferior to Cryokinises
>Frighten
Worthless compared to taking Pyromaniac and setting entire rooms of people on fire and also has an 8 fucking turn cooldown
>Mental breakdown
Actually decent but there are much better abilities that cost 60 psi
>Bilocation
Trash ability, no further explanation required
>Enrage
50 psi and 8 turn cooldown to make an enemy just attack you anyways
>Interruption
You can count the number of enemies with a psi on two hands
>Projection
This one is pretty good
>Disruption
Useless if you aren't a stealth build and if you are unironically a stealth build you should just hang yourself.
