There is literally nothing wrong with that statement.

If you're a retard there isn't
>Oh, I don't like good games so I guess I'll stay away then.

Dark Souls 2

At this point is Captain falcon just a super smash brothers character at this point? Same thing with Sheik?

Breath of the wild and Megaman Legends
been saying that shit for years and theres nothing wrong with it

>Games can't have context outside of what's in it

>Breath of the wild and Megaman Legends
Star Fox Adventures
Super Mario 3D World
Kid Icarus Uprising

I guess most of my answers are Nintendo. But yeah, it's a good phrase for explaining why you appreciate a game that most of the series's fanbase doesn't, or why a game disappointed you despite being objectively good.

No, retard.

I'm sure Nuts & Bolts was a very creative game, but using Banjo Kazooie as a skin just for recognition is shitty.

Hitman Absolution is literally a fun game that is nothing like the previous games mechanically for most levels.

That's literally just shit you're making up for them. You literally hate yourself. It's all imagined.

The game I see this argument used for the most is Fallout 4, and that game is just shit all around. It doesn't do anything it wants to do well.

falcon yes. sheik no. i think sheik will be in BoTW 2 in some fashion

> Game is a good game objectively but doesn't meet series expectations and therefore disappointed you despite being good
> You're apparently not allowed to say that
Fuck you.

Super Paper Mario is a good game, it’s just not a good Paper Mario game.

I think it would be a perfectly decent game if the physics weren't so weird and they didn't have the trophies. Outside of that, it's a spin off when a mainline game was needed.

Using Banjo & Kazooie as an example for this bullshit argument just highlights how dumb it is. By your logic, any B&K game that DOESN’T involve them in a vehicle (a la DIddy Kong Racing, their first fucking appearance) isn’t a real B&K game.

>release mario 64 as a sequel to tetris
>"it's a good game, just not a good tetris game"
I don't see the problem

ngmi lol

What the statement means is that many people buy a game in a series with the expectation that it will be like other games in that series. If they released a new F-Zero game, but it was like a GTA esque open world beatemup game where you go around hunting bounties, and there wasn't any actual racing, I think that could be a really cool and fun game. At the same time though. If I see an F-Zero game on store shelves, I might be like "oh I love the high speed races of F-zero! This should be fun!" Then I'll be disappointed that it isn't anything like that at all.

I believe Captain Falcon is even more based after I learned he punches women just as hard.

There's nothing wrong with spinoffs if you actually bother to release mainline games. Too bad they advertised a spinoff as a mainline game instead.

While most people might not agree with me on this, I actually enjoyed Paper Mario Sticker Star. I thought it was a fun puzzle adventure game, and it kind of reminded me of old point and click games. I understand why people hate it though. Sticker Star isn't really an RPG, but all the earlier games are. The earlier games also had more unique characters and stories, and the combat was more meaningful. I still think Sticker Star was decent as its own thing though.

It's a perfectly valid argument, because it comes from the place of the new game not being up to your STANDARDS for the series. STANDARDS are something casuals never had, especially the Wii, 360 and PS3 era people who it was their first major platform whether from being young or new to gaming. so they don't understand it.

It's like a autistic person trying to understand social cues, they simply wont understand how not to be themselves so I don't blame you. You simply never knew anything better if you're seriously arguing from that point of view. The new reduced quality in gaming is your normal.

For those of us who've been gaming 20, or 30 years like myself, who've had every major console after the Atari 7800, who witnessed a decline in quality in gaming to appeal to the widest potential audience for maximum profit, saying this is very valid. It doesn't live up to our STANDARDS.

Why in the world do you think Zig Forums used to complain about "casualization" and "Mainstreaming" and "streamlining"? Those were all buzzwords for corporations dumbing down the design of games to appeal to people who are BAD at videogames. YOU are the main audience now, and thats fine. But bitching because people want more out of videogames now than cinematic trash, slowed down experiences, fighters with no depth of control or mechanics, platformers with oversimplified but flashy shit with no actual intended or unintended application, just makes you look like kind of a bitch..

It's why Federation Forces hurt so badly.

It was a spin-off when a new Metroid was badly-needed. Worse than that, it was a bad spin-off.

The fact that all we've got since is a remake (as well as a game that looks like it'll be vaporware at this rate) doesn't help.

Fun fact: Half of Banjos playable appearances have been in games with racing.

Racing: Nuts and Bolts, Diddy Kong Racing, Banjo Pilot, Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing.

Non Racing: Banjo Kazooie, Banjo Tooie, Gruntys Revenge, Super Smash Bros Ultimate
