How am I supposed to git gud if I don't have the motivation Zig Forums? And how am I supposed to develop motivation if the story consists of Yharnam being the home of blood ministration, this is the Hunter's Dream, some cripple hangs out there and he says I should just kill stuff?
I want to find a reason to keep playing. But I keep dying, I haven't even gotten to the third fucking lantern, the story so far is expository information about the setting and that's just not enough to keep me going. I'm not even mad. I'm just fucking bored.
Convince me otherwise. Or don't. I got the game free with PS plus so I really don't care if I dump it forever.
if the game doesn't draw you in after giving it a couple of days worth of honest effort, retreat. you will never receive its graces
Logan Jackson
What are you having trouble with in particular?
Kayden Parker
Hey man, if you're not engaged or having fun, what's the point Don't think anyone would be able to convince you to keep going at it
Nathan Wilson
The werewolves on the bridge, the lanky asshats in the canal/aqueduct/sewer. Either of the two paths I am aware of consistently get me killed. Even if I soften the wolves up with molotovs I get overwhelmed and killed in a hot second.
Owen Cooper
this is what happens to you when you play mostly games where the focus is the story. Your brain starts to ask "where is the cutscene to keep me engaged?" and you think the gameplay is only there as a secondary thing When I first played this game everytime i died the fun thing was finding what I did wrong and try a different approach and when I went thorugh the part that was fucking me over the was my reward not a cutscene, but I dont blame you man modern games condition you to think the way you do
The werewolves are pretty BS early on, just run past them. The tall guys aren't that bad if you keep your distance though, and they're good for practicing parries.
Andrew Hernandez
you don't have to fight everything, you know
Jaxson Ross
You should probably give up and just play something that doesn't punish you for not paying attention.
Henry Gomez
Even something as simple as "X is why you are in Yharnam" would be better. Something. Anything. I need some reason beyond "how can I do that differently." Fucking Celeste has climbing a mountain as the fucking goal but it is presented in a way that made me care enough to beat it. I know there are people who scoff but I need some narrative motivation to see my games through.
I know, I've been sprinting past the entire effigy burning crowd lately.
Benjamin Reyes
You are in Yharnam because you were sick and needed blood healing, that is what the opening cutscene is implying. Nothing is made completely clear to you, you have to take your time and put together little bits and pieces of information like a puzzle to understand what's going on. If you don't want to put in the effort, just watch Youtube videos explaining it.
Nolan Morgan
well, if what keeps you invested in a game is the narrative being told, every modern fromsoft game (minus sekiro) is a terrible choice, every one of them have the vaguest possible storytelling with very simple goals as the game's progression at the outset (DeS: slay demons, DS1: ring bells, DS2: idk, DS3: kill lords, bloodeborne: hunt beasts). its not going to get better with the story, only more vague and confusing as the game progresses if you can believe that. the draw of the game for most player is the combat and enemies, and if the gameplay is frustrating and boring to you I would say either keep going and see if you get better and enjoy it more, or just drop it and move on. either option is honestly fine
Jaxon Hill
Just stop playing because it's obviously not for you. And I say that with no sense of elitism whatsoever. Don't force yourself to play if you aren't enjoying it my dude.
Fire works really well on the werewolves or you can just run past them. I'm pretty sure it's expected of you at this point. They're placed in a very strange area. You can legit just skip them though if they're really giving you a lot of trouble. What weapons did you start with?
Hunter Wood
The saw blade cleaver thing. I found a note that said fire was good on the wolves, so I tried going after them with a torch once. Got raped then as well. It only seemed to annoy them.
Evan Peterson
The torch sucks as a weapon. You can fire buff your weapons with items though, serrated weapons like the cleaver and fire both do more damage against beast enemies. My advice against the wolves, lure 1 of them out and bait his long distance pounce, then parry him mid-air for a visceral attack. Learn to parry everything, learn to dodge into attacks instead of away, and don't get greedy. The game will become piss easy afterwards.
Lucas Fisher
Just go through the sewer, and run past shit until you find a ladder
Joshua Johnson
>How am I supposed to git gud if I don't have the motivation Zig Forums?
You can't. That's a fact of life.
>I want to find a reason to keep playing.
The only reason to keep playing is because you want to. If the game really doesn't work for you then it isn't for you. This is a hobby, not a job. That said, Bloodborne has a special place in my heart because I was so frustrated early on and felt like quitting but pushed through. Now its one of my favourite games. Same with Sekiro which I actually gave up on before going back months later. These games are incredibly rewarding but there is a learning curve. Many don' want to deal with that when it comes to a hobby and that's understandable. You need to decide whether or not the juice is worth the squeeze for you.
Jeremiah Cooper
So many useless replies. What bullshit. "Fans" can't even explain what is good about the game, they just insult.
Jaxon Wright
There is literally nobody in this thread insulting OP
Elijah Ward
Yeah bro. I don't feel insulted by most of these posts. Some of them smell of elitism, but I expected that.
I just wanted to know if it is worth the effort to continue, and I think that question has been pretty well answered.
Its downright civil in here for Zig Forums.
Gavin Carter
you're the only "insulting" one here
Carter Howard
Run past the werewolves and go into the house that's near them. They'll try to follow you but they're too big to enter the house. You can then beat them easily.
Eli Powell
The first 2 or 3 hours are so bad i put the game back, just like dunkey
try it again, it will become your favorite game on the system.
Logan Gray
it really does get better
Angel Mitchell
Earlier versions of the game seemed to have a more coherent story. Unfortunately most of it was dummied out for some reason.
Jose Hughes
>it was originally going to be a secret demon's souls sequel >there are still references to this in the beta feelsbadman.jpg
Elijah Robinson
dodge *then* hit
Nathan Garcia
There's references in the main game as well. You can find the armor from the DeS box art in the chalice dungeons.
Hunter Adams
bloodborne is for those who want slowly digest the world and the enviroment story are in the details and you must find it by yourself.
