How are you holding up, lads? Are you still excited or, rather, having fun playing video games?
>turning 36 >have 300+ games on Steam >only play the ones I've played in the past >can't into modern games >long cutscenes are annoying >too much dialogue is annoying >just want to play vidya without any bullshit tacked in
>tfw 19 and whole life ahead of me. Its a good feel bros.
Owen Jenkins
>36yo fuck >at work >gonna grab some German beer after work >and play some Dark Souls Remaster and Picross
Benjamin Rodriguez
>31 >play FPS since DooM II >getting into Apex and trying new FPS >educate the next generation on how things were in the beginning, in passing
There are way too many kids out there who don't know Battle Royale is a film.
If anything I think games are getting better aside from some worrisome trends borne mostly from consoles (such as less dedi server support) and the fact I think comparing games to sports is rather insulting to athletes and embarrassing to players.
Jack Bailey
>lots of free time >playing 16 hours a day >get tired of Eu4 play a bit of Morrowind advance quests a bit play some wot Made a habit of playing a new game I never played at least a few hours, yakuza 0 seemed fun but karaoke mini game made me alt+F4
Hunter Jones
>31 yo >have some games installed but never finds the time to play because occupied with gacha and vchuubas
I'm 31. It's kinda hard to get into newer games since I've seen most of the stuff done before and it brings nothing new. Ofcourse it doesn't help that everyone just copies shit from each other whatevers popular at the moment. I mostly replay older games I enjoyed.
Nicholas Rivera
>32 years old. >Wasted my 20s being a worthless NEET. >Only now finishing college
I feel like my life is just beginning. I have the hugest collection that takes up my whole room. Love anime and games. My biggest regret is that i dont have anyone to share all this fun shit with. My only friend is in the navy and i see him like once a year. I can play newer games just fine, but keep 'wasting time' playing older games again and again.
Angel Thomas
34 year old and all I do is playing card games like Runeterra and Monster Train
Fuck modern Vidya, their stupid political bullshit and their complete and utter reliance on a handful of IP that have become so popular Normie gobble it up no matter the quality
David Ortiz
>34 >full time job, family of 5 >just bought a new rig >play only pixel shit
I don't think I've liked video games for years. The only ones I can really play are online grindy games and they don't really exist any more. It's a problem because I'm a NEET and have fuck all else to do.
Jose Miller
Life comes at you fast. Feels slow right now, but in a couple of years you'll be catapulted forward to the depression bracket. (30+) I used to think the way you do, but you're in for a hell of a shock.
Grayson Campbell
why is Zig Forums full of grandpa's? No wonder this place praises ancient garbage like ps1 shit ugh.
Jeremiah Miller
34 I usually play a game or two of LoL trolling with shaco support then later in the evening Tarkov with a friend. Sometimes play new games but not often. PoE for mindless grind every other league. Still having fun with games.
Noah Jones
>all your vidya friends eventually stop logging because they got wife's/kids
>tfw stuck working a shit job to get through college >going to be 30 when I graduate >I'm going to be starting to build up my life at a time when everyone my age has already been achieving their goals for a decade >haven't even fully decided on what the fuck I'm going to do >losing a little more hope every day At least I still have video games, haha....
Levi Davis
31 here.I'm honestly not excited for anything right now. I still have fun with video games and I think there's been a lot of really good games released in the last few years, things are certainly better than they were during the PS3/360-era, even more so if you have a PC
This right here. Even worse is trying to even replaying that game that you and your buddies used to play all the time, but it felt so empty without them. Fuck this feels man.
Nicholas Ramirez
>Be 31 >Younger co-workers start talking about video games >It's all eSports and Battle Royale shit >They're all consolefags
When I was younger, I was the "weird guy who plays video games". Now, I'm the "weird OLD guy who plays WEIRD video games".
Ian Russell
no i hate gaming
Logan Butler
>Turning 40 >Still can't fucking aim in fps >Still get mad at video games >Gf bullies me when I get mad at video games Basically, nothing changed from when I was a kid
Alexander Hall
I can't even play new MP games anymore because I'm just thinking about how much more fun it would be if my friends were still around to play it with me the whole time
Yeah I'm slowly getting there myself. But it's because games are getting progressively less fun and there's more interesting or rewarding stuff I can do instead
Ian Morgan
>26 >Almost entirely console user until about 8 years ago when I finally got a decent PC >Have PC for about 4 or 5 years now, was never a powerhouse to begin with >Keep trying to play newer games, even stuff that isn't graphically intensive, and my PC can't handle it well >Can't stand 30fps at this point, have to lower graphics to shit levels sometimes in which even then my PC wants to die >Have no knowledge of PC shit or parts >Want to get better PC, but know prebuilt stuff is nearly always extremely expensive compared to buying everything piecemeal and often not to the spec promised >Look up PC parts and it's all gibberish to me, even telling the difference between a CPU and video card baffles me >Know I don't need top of the line stuff and that it would be extremely expensive, but have no clue what middleground parts would manage fine when playing newer games >Every "guide" online is either a Reddit clusterfuck of people jerking off the newest Razer products, or some website essentially going, "Buy this prebuilt one from Best Buy, it's what [Insert Streamer Name] uses!" >Terrified to even start looking into shit, hell, mouse wheel when bad (constantly drifts) and can't decide on what to buy since everything is either this neon colored abomination with a 150 dollar pricetag, or shit with reviews stating the mouse requires fucking account log ins to get set up
I either have to learn a new language essentially, take a risk on a prebuilt, or stick with games up to 2015 in terms of performance. I wish I learned this shit when I was a kid instead of buying the newest Xbox or whatever bullshit. Now that I've seen what 60fps looks like, going back to often times sub 30 on console games is agonizing.
I feel you bro. Though in this case i'm the young co-worker. >Me and a few of the other new hires start getting to know each other, we bring up games. >Most of the them play Fifa or BR's. I tell them I play a few BR's from time-to-time but am bored with the genre, get a few nods and shit. >Middle-aged guy who has worked here a while overhears us and decides to meet the new hires. >Talks about how he plays older fps's such as the original Doom and Sin while playing some of the newer stuff that is come out the past few years such as Dusk and plays that in his spare time. >Other guys think he's talking about Doom Eternal and a couple say that they've played it. >Older guy then states he meant the original dooms. >Couple of them then say 'My dad used to play that'. >Older guy looks like he just realised his age and then makes an excuse and walks off. He's a cool bro though, makes it pretty easy for us new hires.
Brody Hall
Building a PC isn't really that bad. You can handle it.
Xavier Harris
>can't play MP games because friends are married with kids >can't go out drinking till late at night as usual >can't make sudden road trips because friends have to be at home by 10 >can't really enjoy new vidya anymore since they just copy pasted samey shit >work is just there to kept on living and paying them bills >life is not fun anymore Is this it? Is this the end? Is there a better life at the end of the rope?
Yer the kind of guy who mentally degenerates in his old age and has to be put into a home, despite being otherwise healthy. Btw, that is not a set-in-stone fate. Work your mind, you sloth. Read books, read in games, do something that keeps you thinking. I'm 35 and I have no problem keeping up with new games. I'm a little obsessed with melee action titles but I play basically everything and anything that catches my eye. Broaden your horizons, even if you have to force yourself.
Colton Myers
>34 >re-playing all older backlog RPGs now, just because I want to >more interested and involved in online community now than ever before >writing more offline about video games in general >looking forward to "catching up" like PS3-era of RPGs with trophies and raping them
Interest in video games peaked for me just now. Have more time to devote to games finally out of school+work.
Ethan Thompson
Battle Royale was a fucking book first. Holy shit.
Samuel Howard
As said. I've never built a PC in my life but my autistic brother mentioned to me he wants a PC but doesn't know how to go around it. He said he set aside some of his money but doesn't know what to buy. I ordered the parts and once they arrived it couldn't have been simpler to put it together. Plus the few things I didn't get at first were remedied by the thousands of videos on the subject. You got this bro, if you want to build it, build it. Its actually pretty fun.
Oliver Cruz
I guess I just don't know where to start. Every time I've looked for guides, I get the previously mentioned Reddit circlejerk or prebuilt recommendations.
It's almost like getting a job in some ways where it feels like you need to know someone to really get a solid foundation. All of my friends are console users, so they know fuck all about building PCs.
I can probably figure it out and muddle through, but man would it take some digging and probably fucking up a couple times. Which feels like such an investment.
Brody Clark
Ah, a fellow sui-chan fag. Based. Old hag lover like OP should hang himself.
>>long cutscenes are annoying >>too much dialogue is annoying you have case of ADHD in your age, condolences maybe get off porn and beer for a few months I'm 30+ and there isn't enough good dialogue, not enough well made cutscenes not enough lore. and open world games are too short, 70-100h doesn't even fill two weeks
William Edwards
How did you even fall for both of those memes? A grown ass man should know better.
Daniel Perez
All of you ITT need to watch this. Just change the parties, alcohol, drugs and casual sex every time he mentions them for video games, anime, Zig Forums, NEETdom and porn in your head. The party if over for us bros, time to move on with our lives youtu.be/0nXQIXThIMA
Andrew Lopez
You can't possibly fuck it up worse than The Verge.
Hunter James
logicalincrements.com/ always the best starting point. can set it to your region for more accurate pricing. what they show isnt law, but its good to start with and they pair up CPUs and motherboards that fit together.
and if you want to see what kind of performance you want you google the GPU that fits into your target budget and see how it performs in the games you want to play. there are many benchmark videos with FPS counters.
Cooper Carter
that's what stupid people end up like boring people find everything boring, wisdom of the ages. I know a man who is obsessed with new tech like a little kid, he is 75 I probably will end up playing videogames on deathbed
Daniel Clark
Loop up old linus tech tip videos of him building computers and his tech quickie series explaining shit. 2010-2012-2014. It's not zoomer core and its not so hard.
As for accessories: Get a chink mechanical keyboard and grab a logitech g502 wired mouse. Also, IDK what you mean regarding razer jerkoff. Every video online and every comment section I see shits all over razer. You're either over exagerating or you're looking in the wrong places.
Jaxon Walker
>baaah i'm so old my learning capability is lower than 4yo with legos I see why boomer meme become a thing.

>Work night shift weekends, Monday, and Tuesdays at a crisis center >12 hour shifts, come home obliterated energy-wise and emotionally sometimes >Friends all on 9 to 5 weekday shifts >Try and hang out on Thursdays and Fridays >Friends are exhausted when they get home, want to eat or go out often times >When we do sit down, they've often drank quite a bit or just outright get sleepy a few hours in >They can only start at 5, so even if I got on earlier it's still kinda late for them >Often fall asleep midday, so when hanging out I'll get maybe 4 hours of sleep and been groggy for a while
Hate my fucking job. Always getting sick from the patients because they never wash and don't care if they bring shit in. Probably got covid 2 weeks ago because I had bad flu symptoms, dizzy spells, throwing up, and still can't taste/smell anything. Idiot just bring it in, no mask, refuse to do so and we suffer because of it.
Can barely hang out with friends, I'm always exhausted, and rarely have energy for vidya. Fucking sucks.
I already replied but bro if you seriously need help doing this I will actually help you. Do you have Steam or Discord? I won't ask for anything just don't be a sperg lol.
Ethan Butler
My online friend is a nurse in the states and she's stressed out as fuck because of the current situation. Sick people coming in and dying every day. Can't say I would understand what that's like, but I wish you strength nonetheless, user. You're fighting the good fight.
Thanks user, I'll look into this. Still nervous about it but yeah, have to start somewhere.
>g502 wired mouse
Looked it up online, doesn't seem too expensive and it's not a neon monstrosity. Thanks user, I actually appreciate that. Helps to know a baseline model to look at.
I'm probably shit at learning, but my main issue is just not knowing where to start. Just hard to get something good to jump off of. Though people in this thread have helped actually.
Isaiah Flores
Coronachan is weaker than the flu though, also masks don't really work anyway so it doesn't matter if they have them on or not. However lack of sleep, being inside all day and stress can really bring down your immune system so even something as benign and harmless as coronavirus could fuck you up. Just quit bro that's not a life worth living in my opinion
Joshua Parker
why didnt you change your job before the us got hit hard? ur being a brainlet. should have gone to the boonies
Jose Powell
i have a phd in immunology if you think the flu is worse you are a retard
Aiden Jones
>Coronachan is weaker than the flu though if you are not the 10% with wrong macrophages and get fucked with heavy penumonia just because your genes are unlucky
Josiah Morris
Is it really that hard? I've watched tonnes of building videos and I think I have a sort of a grasp on how to assemble the thing. But researching for what parts can be a bit of a work. But still, to me it isn't that complex like how people are saying. Just don't put on tonnes of thermal paste, make sure you're grounded to not have static or someshit. And make sure your tower fits the parts that you're trying to fit in there.
