Was it really that bad?
Not worth getting even on sale?
Was it really that bad?
With the Royal Edition they fixed up a lot of things that didn't make sense in the story, now it's really worth the try especially on sales.
My only concern about the game is how lame magic is.
It's good
Yeah the Royal Edition is worth the buy, but remember that you can play as the other bros too, its so much fun
It was and still is that bad.
Still can be a fun mindless distraction though, especially if you're a casual and ignorant about game design. Since it's mainly the completely broken combat that is the issue.
PLEASE LISTEN TO ME AND NOT THE OTHERS ITT
The game is simply garbage to the core, no matter the amount of shitty updates will change the
-Shit gameplay
-Weightless commbat (thank the forced sliding mocap animations for that)
-Shit graphics
-Empty world
-uninspired world design
-Shit music (yes, Yoko shimamura barely worked on this and fucking shows)
-You need to watch an anime, a movie and read a book to be able to follow a shit story
-The "brotrip between bros" is rendered null by the lack of stakes, characters ared defined by their quirks and epic hobbies instead of their actions
THE GAME IS TRASH PLEASE I FUCKING BEG YOU BUY ANYTHING ELSE BUT THIS PILE OF TRASH
Just dont buy it on steam they fucked up its performance permanently with the last patch before abandoning the game forever.
it's one of those redpills, you play it and realize Zig Forums itself is a false reality of untrustworthy opinions and it's more like a existential wake up call to reality at large, that life is chaos but at least you have square enix to supply you with magical experiences like this.
>shit graphics
Its one of the best looking games, especially on PC
>shit music
Wrong, actually one of the best
I'd recommend you actually play the game instead of parroting shitposts on Zig Forums, you retarded waste of oxygen sperging faggot
I only played the vanilla version when it guest came out and I liked it a lot even despite the one notoriously terrible section right near the end. I genuinely don't get the critisms that it gets here, since it's mostly about combat which was just fine. The stuff about bad graphics, music and world design make think that these people didn't even play the game because those things are top tier in this game and are probably it's highlights.
>yes, Yoko shimamura barely worked on this and fucking shows
Wrong, she started working on FFXV lusic since 2006
It has bad pacing but it was fun.
Yes
the combat sucks. the combat sucks in ff7 remake too.
i hate the new "realtime" combat of final fantasy, it is aimed at 14 year olds because they need to feel that they can make cool moves and stuff like that, retards.
There are a lot of issues with this game, but I'll point out the biggest problem: It's the plot. The villain, to put it simply, wants you to win. If he didn't want you to win, you couldn't possibly hope to win.
He basically gives you a gun, loads it for you, puts it against his head, and pushes your finger against the trigger. You are assisting a man's millenia-long suicide attempt, and it works.
don't buy it on pc it's an unoptimized piece of garbage
It makes for great photos though
not him, but so is DS. is there any mod fixing it?
yes it was.
no.
It’s pretty fun. It’s a decent rpg/action game, sense of progression is nice, world looks cool and is fun to explore and it’s unironically got some of my favorite music in the series. I don’t know if the combat feels as nice as VIIR but it’s cool
You can play as your boys now which is fun. The story is garbage too. It’s definitely one of the weaker FF games but it’s way less linear than XIII. It’s like a 6/10
>PLEASE LISTEN TO ME AND NOT THE OTHERS ITT
certified Zig Forums cult classic
>Yoko Shimomura barely worked on this
She did like 80% of the soundtrack user what the fuck are you talking about. Only thing she didn't do was the DLCs outside of one or two tracks in the Royal Edition.
Anyone else cry at the ending?
No.
It's Barry approved. What more could you ask for?
Please stand by me, user
I enjoyed it, but the story is butchered because they wanted to make it a mutli-product story. The second half is really rushed and linear. But the first half/road trip is the strongest aspect of the game.
No, fuck off.
Same people wrote fucking essays on why the FF13 saga is shit, and it turned out that 13-2 and LR were one of the best FF games.
Haven't listened listening to Zig Forums about FFs from then.
This, ff discussion on this board is fucked. Either it’s a thread of shitters saying they’re all bad except for a few or shitters saying all the modern ones are trash which is also not true
>on this board
Everywhere since FF13 because it was garbage.
I beat it last week, it's alright. I'd say get it if you don't mind games that feel like a bit of a grind (the sidequests in the game are all useless fetch quests, I enjoyed doing some of the hunts though), otherwise probably not
the story and lore are pretty interesting but ruined by the fact that they don't become a major part of the game until the last hour or so, not even joking. for most of the game you'll just be moving forward without really even knowing why
the soundtrack was good, not as great as some other games in the series but there are some memorable tracks. as usual with final fantasy games, oftentimes the soundtrack is what's keeping you engaged in the pretty mindless combat
speaking of that, the combat is shit. it's press o to win but made even more noticeable by the fact that it's now in real time instead of menu based. they took the combat from kingdom hearts, an easy game, and somehow made it even easier by removing the need to time your dodges, now you can just hold down square to auto-dodge
the game looks really nice, I actually enjoyed the photo ops at various landmarks throughout the world, and it was pretty comfy to ride around it in the car. it's pretty large but between the car and chocobos it's not too bad to traverse. my main issue with the open world is that I wish there had been more towns, it's mostly just wilderness. anyways, the graphics are really pretty
overall I enjoyed it enough that I did some of the postgame content as well as a good bit of hunts, but that might just be because I'm kinda autistic and more forgiving of repetitive gameplay
