I never played that game but somehow I'm nostalgic for it

MU was really popular in Bulgaria in the mid 00s for some reason, almost everyone I knew played it as well as Diablo 2.

Spic here, fucking everyone played that when i was young

A Latvian guy I knew used to play it.

Why do I 100% believe you

Becouse its true, that said it wasn't like this becouse no one actually knew english besides basic words like "attack" and "defence" so they usually stuck with spic servers

i grew up with MU Online, first game I ever modded and even ran a successful private server that got lots of donations and I spent on beer with my friends.

Be honest, how hard and expensive was to run that server? I only saw complains by the admins whenever they talk about work and always ask for more donations, was it all bullshit?

It's true. I'm also a spic and it was the one thing all the kids played at the cafes, aside from CS 1.6

Good times bros

it was pretty simple configurations, you just put your IP in some files and ran a .bat that opened all the programs in order, you also needed to configure the drop rates and stuff like that but that was a one time thing.
Most server problems usually came from broken files like
>people wanting to run the newest version
>people wanting to run modded versions
>people with no idea on how to even open a fucking .txt file to modify things

Only thing that was tiresome was managing the GM's who were usually tards who wanted power but other than that it was extremely easy.

also
>expensive
lol, i ran the server on a pentium 2 with 4 gb of ram, you didnt even needed to buy a host for the webpage because you could just host the webpage on your PC

Pole here, all my friends in school and my dad played the fuck out of Mu for like 3 years straight

Thanks man, how was donation money vs the expences? I mean, taking out the beer money and stuff, how much you made and how much you lose in a good month?

I'd be surprised if I'm not the only person on Zig Forums who played this.

I fucking loved MU Online. Played on some shitty SEA server and hacked (guessed actually) a GM's username and password. Got ourselves a gorrillion of those donation credits, had full FO gear on all characters + infinite credits, kept gifting sets left and right just because we could. The GM was sacked quickly, we had our fun for like 1 more month then we quit.

>getting leveled up overnight by a hacker in the bull room
I wasn't the only one right

>I used to be the guy levelling others up
Kek there's a slim chance we might have met but I know there was quite a couple doing it

It was the first proper mmo I've played. Private servers only because we were poorfags.
Used to joke about MGs head being too big because he couldn't wear a helmet

Did you know there's still updates for MU online? Its up to Season 16 now, i used to play a server that was v0.97 when i was a kid and that server is still online to this day!
I don't know much about MMOs but i still can't believe this shit that older than WoW still has huge updates still to this day, i don't think this is a common case

Oh, come on. I have entire series in my GOG library. IMO it's a way better and involved game thsn Settlers.
