I did like that you could fuck up the main quest and have no idea where to go. Vegas always gave you an objective marker and it kinda cheapens the experience.

Fallout 3 is both better and worse than I remember it. It's got a zillion technical and design problems I just put up with back in 2000s but it does try pretty hard at its narrative and really had an engaging progression of loot and skills. I guess NV is better but both games have aged poorly due to the core engine being shit.

yesterday I made a thread asking if I should drop 4 and start 3. Chose to play 3 and not regretting that decision.

I played Fallout 3 because I saw the MIRV being fired and wanted to get that.
It was so mind-numbingly boring after about 10-15 hours that I dropped all side quests after doing the DLCs and just tried to get to the end.
I remember hitting the end of the quest and realising I didn't get the MIRV at all, thought about how much extra bullshit I'd have to do and stopped right there.
Fallout 3 made me realise that bethesda games are not good games.

I couldn't go past the beginning of the video in which he actually used the godawful vault section as a good example of roleplaying and player agency.

One of the few videos that has radically changed my mind about a game, meaning that it made want to give fallout 3 another try and I actually thought it was better than I remembered.
It wasn't perfect, but it had some great moments and the best exploration incentives, plus it actually made me feel vulnerable and weak for a long time, unlike new vegas, where once you are good enough at playing, nothing can really kill you except for a cheeky cazador or radscorpion.

He is really optimistic, but he did criticize fallout 76, lightly, which for Jon is a crazy thing to do.
I don't agree with everything he says, but after watching his YOLO run of New vegas, and seeing how much he genuinely loves fallout, I can't really be mad at him.
