Within my first 5 matches I already had people flaming me for using the Spitfire, a weapon I picked up because I like LMG's.
Meanwhile I see them jumping around the map with SMG's with perfectly accurate hipfire and seemingly no damage drop-off.

Because the game is really poorly balanced and has had various things be OP during its lifecycle that some retards are still hung up on along with other retards being elitists.
The only actual things in it that are too good currently are: SMGs besides the Volt, The Monarch, and arguably the R101 plus Spitfire. Everything else is pretty much fine, and even then out of these the CAR is really the only truly egregious one.
Also anyone who cries about the smart pistol is a shitter given every other pistol has a lower TTK than it does.

SMGs are just objectively head and shoulders about any other weapon in the game
Their range, hipfire, damage, and therefore TTK are just off the charts
And in a game where people like to go "fast", a weapon that can melt you in one fifth of a second from a quick glance with hitscan makes everyone very angry
