It always bothers me when bad games make good calls in terms of monetary model. When Godfall bombs, and it will, it will be held up as another example of why "gamers are sick of the traditional model!!!" and another nail in the coffin of video game ownership.

Maybe. It's an interesting notion, and it's clear that's where the industry WANTS to go, even if it has to drag gamers kicking and screaming. I don't think they're going to have to fight for much longer though, zoomers are growing up playing microtransaction-riddles garbage and thinking it's the new norm.
Give it about 5ish years, and it'll be considered part of a past everyone but the old have let go off long ago.
