It's mostly about unrealized potential.
First Fable is a cult classic by now and there is something about it's goofy setting and premise that just attracts me. Being able to make your hero like total goody two shoes savior where you get a literal halo or an evil cliche villain with horns and tails, going to Heroes Guild and training, Quests being literal jobs given by people or even bandits sometimes and competing with other Heroes for Fame/Infame etc. It's basically childhood playground/fantasy stick fights made into a game. Pure Soul.
So in capable hands it can be a really fun title.

I was there before Fabled released and it was hyped with all the different interactions and things you could do inside the game. They said you could do more than when it came out. Then every game after was hyped to "finally give you guys what we promised", until people got tired of it after 3. That said, there is no excuse not to do the list of things promised now with modern tech.

If you played it like an evil landlord simulator it was aight. Clearing out entire towns and renting them out was the best way to make money. I think had the game come out later it could have fleshed out its mechanics more especially with the whole stealthy thief concept that hardly works as one would expect.

Fable 1 is my favourite game of all time and I love Fable 2. 3 was a whores abortion that should never be mentioned. I play Fable 1 at least once a year and wish I could live in the world. Hope we get a new game and 2 gets ported to PC.
