How does this compare to Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons?

Is there any leftist propaganda in this game? (Sorry for asking this, but you can never be too sure with western devs)

SV a good farming game and the music is wonderful. I'm playing The FoMT remake and even though it's a simpler game, I like its characters a whole lot more.

10x better. No propaganda. Well there's a bit of a very minor sideplot where a giant wal-mart type corp is trying to take over the town and the townsfolk don't want their businesses to die. Not sure if you consider that propaganda, didn't feel like it in the game.

An update added LGBT flags to the game.

Not at all, I believe capitalism can be criticized, that sideplot look rather nice actually, although I won't be surprised anymore now, but that's ok, I reckon there must be tons of nice sideplots like that in the game, right?

This is just a soulless indie garbage option for those who don't own Harvest Moon. So if you have that, don't bother.

Should I start with the first one and play them in order?

Stardew Valley has more mechanics. It pretty much takes the best of all the harvest moon idea, as well as some things from animal crossing, like house customization and collecting pure cosmetics. It also borrowed crafting from something like mine craft, but it's a great fit for this type of game.

The Mechanics are fairly straightforward with enough depth to keep them interesting. There a tons of characters, quests, and storylines. You can even be the "villain" and side with the evil wal-mart style company if you want, although it doesn't have a huge impact on the story.

There is also combat, and while it's simple, it makes mining a lot more interesting and gives depth's, pun intended, to the mines.


Harvest Moon, or Story of Seasons, has more charm, better art style, and over all more interesting characters.

I like the festivals better in Harvest Moon Games but Stardew's are ok, and there are a lot of them.


Stardew is the better game overall, but Harvest Moon, espscially FOMT, 64, BTN, and MM just ooze SOUL. The music, art, and style of Classic Bokujō Monogatari is unrivaled.

am playing it right now. It is so boring, i have so much money but don't want to buy anything. I havve two chicken sheds one large barn. Pigs goats two cows. I have no need for money so everything just feels like a chore it's just so god damn boring am trying to marry leah and am dating her but man i feel like i just can't do another day. I am just trying to get all the achivements I have the galaxy sword the green house, all i need is the poppy flower and promagrante to finish the community centre.

It’s not terrible but there’s a lot of mechanics that were added without any thought or reason as to why they were added. Everyone is bi pretty much but it only shows up if you pursue that shit.

This, and the ability to romance your own sex if you're going for that sort of thing, but it's wholly optional and not pushed at all- you have to actively labor to get the friendships up to that point.

It's introduced as a plotline in like the first 30 mins of the game, you aren't getting spoiled at all. You can choose to side with the corporation or the townspeople at one point even, pretty based.

One of the men in the town got cucked by another villager and is raising the other man's daughter. The guy is portrayed as having "jealousy issues" for suspecting.

Make of that what you will.

That's horseshit lmao. There are like 5 guys and 5 girls you can romance, whether you make your character a guy or a girl. I actually think the dialogue isn't even different if you romance NPC A as a guy or girl.

Its slightly different. I romanced Sebastian as a man and he said something about usually not liking guys from what I recall.
