>no long jump
>Mario's controls feel slippery
>FLUDD controls are dogshit
>all levels look and feel the same
Fuck this game. Zig Forums told me it was good so fuck Zig Forums.
No long jump
huh
>no long jump
Long jump was never interestingly needed in SM64. Not one time.
>Mario's controls feel slippery
They are the tightest 3D Mario controls ever. He stops with total precision.
>FLUDD controls are dogshit
In what fashion?
>All levels look and feel the same
100% the most wrong thing in your post.
I think all of the controls are fine other than his sometimes you get shit fucking camera angles and hover nozzle could fuck you over when this happens
But camera angles being shitty was infinitely worse in SM64
I sure do hate when my controls are slippery too...
SMS is a purely Gen Z phenomenon, if you don't like it you're just old as fuck and need to go worry about taxes or something.
The same people who hate SMS are the same people who would constantly parrot that OoT was the best video game ever in like 2010-2014. I think most of those old fogies left the internet, maybe you should join them.
the only valid criticisms is the camera and blue coins, everything else is just a matter of git gud
your complaints of sunshine are my exact complaints of galaxy. sunshine is great and you are gay
Mario Sunshine is fucking garbage. I knew it even when it launched back then. I was 13-14 years old and very impressionable, but even I noticed that it was a sharp drop in quality.
Levels are boring as shit and don't focus on platforming, but on running around in huge, flat levels without bottomless bits until the endgame.
The game is embarrassingly padded with its blue coins. This is an objective fact. The game was not finished.
The FLUDD controls are okay, but Mario himself has never controlled worse. Nearly no sense of momentum, nothing has weight.
The level variety is lower than in any other Mario game.
The final Bowser fight is utter dogshit.
SMS is the worst 3D Mario by a fucking country mile, and the only ones not accepting that are the fucking zoomers born 1995-2002 who had this as their first Mario game.
I was born in 1990 and sunshine is my favorite
>Sunshine
>Gen Z
Zoomers where toddlers at beast when sunshine came out, user.
>Long jump was never interestingly needed in SM64. Not one time.
Good thing the thread is about Sunshine in which it would have been a great addition.
>They are the tightest 3D Mario controls ever. He stops with total precision.
No he doesn't lmao. Mario slips whenever he changes directions or lands from a jump. Even 3D world feels better than Sunshine.
>In what fashion?
Spraying with it is a fucking pain in the ass. Hovering would be good if it had more maneuverability.
>100% the most wrong thing in your post.
All levels are the same. It doesn't help that the overworld is dogshit.
Galaxy has level variety and nothing remotely similar to FLUDD.
>zoomer and proud
Lmao.
Shut the fuck up.
"""People""" (if you can even call them that) who complain about level variety are faggots.
OH NO A CONSISTENT THEME INSTEAD OF GENERIC GRASSLAND OR SNOW LEVELS THE FUCKING HORROR
Nah dude you just have shit taste.
>no long jump
Jump dive is way more useful
I really like Sunshine mostly because it was one of my birthday presents as a kid for the gamecube. I played it a bunch but never got far because it was hard for baby me. But I played through it a few years ago for the first time. Its good, its nice and aesthetic. But man I can't really see the appeal. It wasnt that much fun to explore the levels nor doing the missions. The world were empty of tasks or things to collect and the missions were easy as pie. Everything was just boring and vapid set pieces which didnt do anything for me really. I only like it because nostalgia and to be contrarian when people consistently shit on it. It makes me wonder why people like 64 when it in all probability was the exact same if not even worse.
>"The levels without FLUDD are the best"
Why do people think this? Those are just generic platforming challenges that would come to completely ruin the series in the decade following the game's release. The best parts of this game were the semi-adventure/puzzle missions (ex the Pianta Village on fire, Watermelon Festival, the hotel, etc)
Bait or not, must be bad to be this shit at games.
64 is better in pretty much every aspect though. Camera controls are the only thing you can complain about and even then they were just fine.
Levels were more varied, Mario had better controls and the level design was overall superior.
The levels without FLUDD would be good if Mario had a long jump. A horizontal jump is just a basic feature for a 3D platformer. Hence why every single 3D Mario afterwards had one.
>game is poorly designed
>"j-just get good!"
I'm starting to think Sunshinefags are just idiots who had Sunshine as their first 3D Mario game. Coming to Sunshine after playing other 3D Mario games shows its flaws, the only redeemable quality is the art direction and soundtrack.
I just love the SMS zoomers flailing and trying to defend their failed piece of unfinished soulless garbage.
SMS sucked.
SMS failed.
SMS had the worst sales of any 3D Mario game, therefore the SMS formula is dead and buried and will stay dead and buried.
Forever.
Your piece of shit contrarian opinion is objectively wrong and I delight in the fact that history has proven me right.
you can tell they put all the work into the gorgeous water fx
It isn't good. Its just the news Mario games all suck

Man you actually managed to hit post after writing that drivel? I'm almost impressed.
>oog u write silly
Collect another blue coin, maybe it will make you cum a little just like back then.
Galaxy trash don't belong anywhere above C tier
>Bringing up Blue Coins
I'd bet my left kidney you were among the many that posted in the SMO threads talking about how great that game is when Moons were just a reskined blue coin.
hello cringe department? we got a thread filled with 64lets seething over a game they never played. yes it's sunshine. yes they brought up the long jump.
I had less fun with this game than SA2
>levels are designed explicitly around dedicated missions
>oh shit the deadline is coming up and we don't have enough levels done
>sprinkle inconsequential blue coins arbitrarily into the levels to fill it up
vs
>the game has been planned and executed around the smaller collectables with a few large ones in between through carefully curated missions
>no long jump
Spin Jump, or jump hover if that's too hard for you.
>Mario's controls feel slippery
Literally wrong
>FLUDD controls are dogshit
How?
>all levels look and feel the same
>Why do these locations on an island look like locations on an island?
>the only valid criticisms is the camera and blue coins
And the fact that the 100% reward is shit.
You are wrong.
There's hardly any effort put into any of the moons in SMO.
Sometimes you get them from courses but most of them you get them from randomly doing some dumb shit like hitting a certain object or slamming down on a certain spot.
It's just a blue coin with slightly more effort put into it.
sales and critic reviews have ZERO effect on my ability to enjoy a game faggot
>he actually collected all the blue coins
I bet you autistically gathered all of the moons in Odyssey as well
Mario is trash
Play Zelda
>no long jump
don't need it
>Mario's controls feel slippery
no
>FLUDD controls are dogshit
no
>all levels look and feel the same
fucking no
just shut the fuck up you idiot, don't post your opinons again
>Spin Jump, or jump hover if that's too hard for you.
>>>Spin Jump as a replacement for Long Jump
Get good shitter.
>literally wrong
Try to land on the border. Mario always slips and falls. Always.
>How?
Running and spraying is mostly useless, aiming when standing is terribly implemented and hovering is shit.
>>Why do these locations on an island look like locations on an island?
That doesn't excuse poor level design or lack of variety.
what is the best thing you would want for 100% reward?
I mean, cosmetics are useless as well, since you already 100% why would you keep playing.. Maybe if you get them on a new file?
>n-no
The absolute state of Sunshine fags.
100 % unlocks Naked Peach as a playable character.
>y-yes
the absolute state of anti-sunshine fags
>bitching about controls in the only 3d mario game that controls really well
l m a o
Now the mission design can eat ass though. That's a fact.
Sorry if you didn't play it as a kid. Mario games are kid games, obviously. I remember having the time of my life with this game. Too bad for you.
>a theme park, industrial bay, treetop village, and haunted hotel all look the same
okay retard
/thread. getting this worked up over a literal kids game is quite embarrassing. stop dissecting it because a mid/late 20 year old talking about the intricacies of a BING BING WAHOO man game is just fucking sad. Just shut up and play it, it’s fun
>can't wrap their head around Sunshine's controls
>Get good shitter.
Take your own advice.
Not necessarily naked, but Peach showing up in the levels as a talkable NPC would be some nice closure.
Sunshine's problem is the lack of content, horribly static levels, random insane difficulty spikes like the Pachinko challenge, and that the Hover Nozzle fucks up the camera/gives way, way too much hang time. Mario himself controls very well.
