Are there any acceptable English dubs of Japanese games? Like Cowboy Bebop is for anime?

American voice actors can be good just the ones that specialize in video game voice acting are tainted. That's what makes XIV's so good is that the actors are theater actors.

Soulsborne games is meant to be played in the English laguage.

Sekiro though really should be in Japanese, not because of any weeb reasons, but because they ditched the theater actors they used for their previous games with bland dubber-tier VAs. I blame Activision for that.

I prefer the English dub of dragonball z because goku and vegeta don't sound like a couple of harem eunuchs like in the Japanese version.

This is a rare case. The jap voices do not fit at all because of the game being western mid fantasyish, English voices were mostly still bad but still much better than Jap. Heavensward NPC voices were pretty good though.

Factually speaking, every game should be played in English, the only language on the planet that actually matters.

The era of RTS and strategy games tell me that the west can have every bit of talent and capability when it comes to voice acting.
But dubbing japanese games means taking on a different mindset of anime moe styles and generally playing characters way too young and the japanese have been making an entire systematic career out of voicing their high pitched kids and embracing moe. It's a lot less pronounced as a problem when the characters are older but gets worse the younger the portrayed characters get

No, even ignoring japan's established character roles of hyper cute/feminine female archetypes which the west does not have so they can never do them right, NA VAs tend to be low quality 90% of the time. I'm not even a weeaboo autist tranny and enjoy dubs when I can, but lots of NA dubs are cringe unfortunately because our commonly-hired talent are mediocre.

I agree that it’s not as good as the original, but it still does its job fine. Probably should have said Echoes instead.

I'm just saying english voice acting definitely has capacity for good stuff, just not usually for dubbing.

Mercedes has the worst dub voice so it's not a fair comparison.
The dialogue is also kinda weak in the localization. It's way more personal in JP with Constance calling her big sister.

Agreed, I can’t believe people praise Sekiro’s English dub. Owl was ok, and so was Isshin, although the actor used the same voice for old man Isshin and Sword Saint. Gyoubu was good but obviously he’s not talking much. Everyone else sucked ass especially Wolf and Kuro.

Lost Odyssey was well done and better than JP, not a surprise I guess
