Sony's Exclusive Problem

>PS2 exclusives
478

>PS3 exclusives
183 (over half as many as previous gen)

>PS4 exclusives
75 (over half as many as previous gen)

>PS5 exclusives
...?

PS5 is going to be a flop, isn't it.

Why is it so big?

quality over quantity. just because a game is exclusive doesn't mean it's good. How many of those ps2 / ps3 exclusives are actually worth revisiting in 2020? Probably only a few of them.

Fake as fuck. Look and the bend of the table near the bottom of the console as it swtiches angle.

>How many of those ps2 / ps3 exclusives are actually worth revisiting in 2020?
A lot more than on the PS4 for sure.

Wrong, the quality of their games is dropping like a rock too.

What makes you think that anyone gives a shit about Playstation exclusives?

video looks fake

2 gotys in one generation? You are dumb as hell nigger

I don't know you tell me. All I hear is exclusives are the only things which sell consoles.

Because scale of new games and all the technologies behind it are much more advanced and of much bigger scope. The production is way more expensive and way more time consuming. Back in the day the team making a game could be 20-50 people and still be comparable with AAA games back then, meanwhile now You need 250-300 people to work on a single project for a 3-4 years to deliver a decent AAA.

games got bigger and more difficult to produce unlike PS2 era when even a little japanese developer/studio can make games and keep up with big studios

Just wait a couple of years for them to just shit it all out 3 or so years before the new console comes out. Ps5 and Xbox series X didn't show anything promising to me besides Ratchet and Clank and Halo Infinite, yes I liked the reveal they just executed it bad and awkward

I bought a PS4 and it will be my last console. What a fucking piece of shit. I played some good games these past few years and all but one could have been played on PC. Bloodborne is amazing but there is no game worth buying a console for.

Hmmm, can’t think of one, maybe you can give me some help?

that shit will be VERY big

what god of war and what else?

That's just reddit. The casuals there own a PS4, but they want something to make them feel superior to Xbox owners.
Since Microsoft wasn't making any exclusives they picked that, even though Sony's own exclusives don't actually sell that well.

Its a 3d model you retards

First off, the reason there's far less exclusives is because

a) games are much more expensive to develop these days, especially AAA games. Just creating assets for modern games is much more time consuming because of how much higher the polygon counts are, how much more work has to go into creating textures, animations, motion capture, voice acting, etc. Many PS2 games don't even have voice acting, or it's extremely low quality.

b) Exclusives mean less, most game devs that aren't first party studios make their games multi-platform for profit reasons. Exclusives really aren't as profitable anymore, which is why you only see very large AAA exclusives like TLOU2 that are going to sell millions of copies no matter what. Why would a smaller dev or published risk making a smaller game exclusive if it means way less profit from the game for them?

c) AAA games take much more time to develop because of how advanced the tech has come. Working in the PS2 era there were so many more restrictions on the hardware, so many limitations that no longer exist, and there's so many new technologies today that add to development time.

These are the main reasons, of course there's fewer exclusives these days. It's not because there's less video games, on the contrary there's probably more releases today than there was 10 years ago because of how many smaller devs exist producing indie games independently. Add to that

goty = normie goty

that's not a valid excuse because you can offset that by having more studios working on games.

Not like the xbox has any either.

Now do Xbox/Nintendo. There have been fewer games each generation, games are getting more expensive and dev times are getting longer. Especially when it comes to the big exclusives that are supposed to be selling points. Not even a PSfag but this shit is just retarded if you're not gonna compare it to the competition. Also
>PS5 is going to be a flop
Probably not, normies pretty much just buy whatever they can play 2K and COD on, and the Microsoft really dropped the ball this gen in solidifying their place as the go-to brand-name console. Then again, things could switch around again. The real question is, who the fuck cares what console sells better?

Nintendo could be doing better but it's not near as bad as the others.
Bring back AW though ffs

This is just blatant contrarianism. I'm not even a snoyger, I own a base PS4 I got in 2015 and haven't touched it in years (bought as bloodborne machine), but I recently went back and played through a lot of the exclusives on the ps4 and it's just a blatant contrarian lie. uncharted 4 was an excellent game. tlou2 was one of the best looking games, I was blown away with how it looked on the base ps4 at 1080p, spiderman was excellent, as was god of war. I played more than that but these games are incredibly high quality, not just in terms of aesthetics but you can tell they invested a lot of work into them. Ghost of Tsushima as well, just finished that one today and it was a very high quality game. I really don't understand why people act like these games aren't good or high quality.

yup
between :05 and :06 you can see the console move by itself

nintendo went from 82 gamecube exclusives to 323 wii exclusives to 523 DS exclusives

>over half as many
it's less than half

>through a lot
>5 games since bloodborne

given the amount of wii/DS shovelware, that may not be a great argument

that being said, exclusives be damed, ps5 will sell just fine

I'm a huge fan of the ps2. It's my favorite console ever and the exclusives are great. This comment is not true though. There are a lot of shit games on ps2 as well.

that was just ive i mentioned.

i played

uncharted collection
uncharted 4
the lost legacy
until dawn
ff vii remake
shadow of the colossus remake
the last guardian
days gone
horizon
tlou remaster
tlou 2
god of war
spiderman
bloodborne
ghosts of tsushima
killzone shadow fall

all in the last 3 months

For a console that collected dust for years, I'm really glad I went back and played all the games I missed out on. Yes, PS4 doesn't have that many exclusives, but the ones it has are pretty much all worth playing in their own right. Can't say that about most PS3 exclusives which honestly there aren't many that are worth revisiting at all quite frankly.

there are more and better exclusives on ps2 than on any other playstation system what are you saying man
