Do you like Dwarf fortress ? if so why.
Do you like Dwarf fortress ? if so why
Idk wtf this is but itooks rad
micromanaging, base building fantasy game, whit a open world adventure mode and procedurally generated narrative.
I don't play it because it's too hard for me, but I enjoy other people playing it.
I used to enjoy it when the framerate was better
It's probably my most played game of all time. I find it extremely comfy just leaving it going in the background and checking in on new developments every 20 minutes, or focusing on it for hours at a time when building elaborate structures and micromanaging every dwarf's mood.
It's great with sex mods.
What do you mean why?
Fucking play that shit nigger.
that fucking interface is the only thing i dislike. I don't have enough prescription medication to deal with it.
It's fun setting up huge projects and seeing what fucks up horribly and dealing with that fallout or seeing what goes better than you expected.
You can set things into motion and have them spiral off the rails into situations that shouldn't have ever happened. It's really fun because over time you start to project a story onto these fucking retards you have to manage as they build up their fort.
Always wanted to try it out myself because the stories on youtube are so fun but I'll wait for the proper Steam release as it's more hassle-free and better graphics
Yeah Steam release seems it would be a really good introduction for new players. Plus if it's lacking anything there's always the free version.
It is buggy, unnecessary detailed and confusing fantasy history simulator with very high replayability.
I love it.
That's from the intro cinematic, not ingame.
I like the concept of it, but I haven't put more than 50-100 hours in over the course of the game's development because it always feels like I'd much rather be playing the game that DF might be in a decade
All the little annoyances make doing big interesting projects, or even just getting the dwarves to do basic functionality shit like train with their fucking crossbows more effort than the reward is worth most of the time.
It's the kind of game I think I'll probably but 1-2k hours in when I get into it for real and then not want to touch again for a really long time, so I'd rather play it when it's as complete as it will get, which probably means not until Toady dies. Maybe I'll give it another shot semi-casually when the steam version comes out and try to pace myself to not get burnt out, or whenever the magic update is finished or something.
I like it because it appeals to my autism.
It's comfy and scratches a story telling itch that other colony builders don't scratch.
It's also fun to generate worlds and then use 3rd party tools to look at the Legends, maps, family trees, famous people, beasts etc.
There's a whole community of mapfags and drawfags that only use df for art, like Krugg.
Steam release I just paying random Canadian company for an ugly ruleset and the ""UI improvements" are shit we already have in 3rd party tools that are being ported.
Never got over the ui despite trying like 5 times
I played it in the past, but I never really got deep into it. I always felt like I was, at best, skimming the surface and keeping afloat at a bare minimum level, but with no way to get into any deeper play due to not completely feeling the flow of the UI. Nothing to do with the look, I've been playing ASCII games since I was a kid.
I get a lot of my base-building autism satisfied by Rimworld right now, but I'd actually love to play a more hardcore fantasy version with as fluent a UI/control.
I do
It's just comfy fun, usually anyway. I also consider it one of the very few games to do narrative right.
I like it but I wish they were remaking it with rts style controls, some cool sprites and maybe some better combat logical rules. Grapping can turn into twister real fast.
Yeah, I play it autisticaly once a month until I get mad about some stupid shit my dorf did. All in good FUN tho. Latest fuck up was because of some woman leaving her child in a magma room for some reason.
Rimworld is better because it has actual game mechanics and not just half-assed simulationistic garbage like feeding 200 dudes with a 3x3 plot farmed by one guy.
Years ago downloaded it, started the game, closed after an hour of generation and no gameplay, went on to play better games.
Did you try to generate a fuckhuge map and 2000 years of history on a toaster or something?
Yes,
I'm autistic.
Yes
It's fun and I have autism
Rimworld is better in every way. Just play that instead.
multithreading one day, user.
one day.
meh, rimworld is more of a side-grade than anything
