it gave the people what they wanted. no niche bullshit
it was pretty damn good, but desu each game brings new nice features and culls old good features/depth. it's a cycle.
I've played since original rome release and I've gotta say my favourites are after all these years
warham2:
med2
atilla aoc.
shogun 2
best soundtrack
the options you had for building in cities has a simple menu but kept it's complexity instead of just streamlining the shit out of everything like warhammer, units never stuck out as really OP with the only exception being the pavise crossbowmen and the mod support is the best, the medi 2 warhammer mod is better than the actual warhammer tw. sieges are still kinda ass in medi 2 though
> time period everyone loves
> complex enough to be fun, not complex enough to be boring
> infinitely moddable
the thing i remember most about this game is playing as the fatimids. when i conquered rome and killed the pope, the pope would constantly respawn, so i had to repeatedly assassinate him every turn
also all foreign units having a big bitch when you click on them. e.g NA'AM SADIQ, YOU ARE NOT MY RULER
So good that there are mods still being developed about it and people are playing this game 14 years later.
They truly don't make them like they used to.
well its not like there's a medieval 3. if you want to play the time period, this is all you've got
The funny thing is though that the top 5 most popular mods for Med2 are all fantasy-related. So it's a testament of not so much the period this game covered but its overall quality and versatility to mod.
I'm very curious on how modern CA would tackle Medieval 3.
Like 3K. The historical Total War game is dead.
total war games are kinda shit senpai
expansion was pretty damn fun as well
Conquering the new world as spain is bloody hilarious
Campaign feels a bit weak after all this time, though I never loved it in the first place, but the battles are still great.
I've done terrible things to the Orcs of the Misty Mountains in Third Age.
would be nice if there were a mod for aspect ratio on widescreens though.
Americas>Teutonic>Crusades>british_isles
>Not Rome 1.
>Best Total War
Its mostly the lord speeches at the begin of a battle, or how weapon and armor upgrades are actually visible

Too bad the glitch that makes cavalry stop their charge just as they are about to hit was never fully fixed. Cavalry still does retarded things from time to time
Meanwhile the cavalry in Rome 1 works fucking perfectly
This, but in reverse
>liking proto Thrones of Britannia
Stainless Steel mod includes most of the factions and mechanics of Kingdoms into the main campaign. No Americas though.
Exactly, which is why I like it the most. It's something I don't have in grand campaign.
How come it never got a historical autist mod like Rome did?
It's still my favorite Total War game. Playing it for two years, especially the Teutonic and Britannia campaigns.
I fucking loved medieval ii. No stupid gimmicks, no mana. If you sacked and pillaged settlements they would be less likely to rebel BECAUSE THEY ARE SCARED OF YOU.
Plus the soundtrack was god tier.
>each game brings new nice features and culls old good features/depth.
Did I ever bring back the option to tour your cities from Rome 1? It was comfy as fuck and it was just so satisfying to see barbarian settlements getting romanized one building after another.
improved and added onto everything good about Rome TW. even to the extent that in Rome TW you had those resources like timber and fish on the map and in ME you could actually then put merchants onto them
I would've liked the game more if the battles weren't buggy as fuck. Cavalry barely works and liked coming to a stop right before a charge
I played Rome for years before finding that feature, was cool to cruise around your city like that though I don’t think Medieval has it unfortunately
>improved and added onto everything good about Rome TW
Didn't it remove the ability to manually move populations from one region to another by building peons in one province and then deleting the unit in another one?
>Still the best Total War after all these years
Full of game breaking bugs, even worse than Rome 2. Also that never got fixed even after several patches an expansions. Siege defending was rare as fuck and was essentially broken if you had high level castles. AI was dumb.
ME2 wuz good is pure nostalgia. People who actually played it hate that shit. Calvary was shit. Peasants in max armour would rekt Foot Knights in max armour. Etc. Just no. It was a fun game but it wasn't good as people say.
it took me years to find out that the feature exists and I found it completely by accident while I was searching for the "move capital" button. I guess that it was specifically created for Decisive Battles.
>Soul
>Attention to detail
>Generals' speeches
>Character traits
>You can see the buildings and upgrades you've made on the battlefield
>Multiple cultures and civs
>Jihads and crusades
>Countless mods
>Godly expansion
>No DLC/hidden content kikery
Wish diplomacy wasn't broken, but it's the one game I always come back to.
It has Europa barbarorum though
>Calvary was shit. Peasants in max armour would rekt Foot Knights in max armour.
This is how I know you're a lying retard. Put a gun in your mouth and pull the trigger.
