I played 1-3. I own 4 and 5. I've promised to myself that I'd beat 4 before going onto 5 but that's proven to be really hard because 4 is a hot steaming pile of dogshit.

People seem to like them. Lara isn't as cool as she used to be. They're kind of fun in that Uncharted sort of way, she doesn't use her dual pistols anymore and the series seems to be handled by Ryona fetishists.

The new gang just kinda sucks, nothing you can do about it. It's the Tomb Raider 2013 situation where the reboot characters are mostly safe and boring. At least the old ones sometimes show up during the story and are playable in MP, so that's something.
You should have at least played 4 as it is the start of the new story as it explains who the fuck she is.

It's basically a basic bitch TPS/platformer now. If you've played Uncharted, it's kinda similar, only worse. Puzzles are still there sometimes, though you will figure out all of them in 2-3 minutes tops. Also the games kinda get worse the further down you go the trilogy.

If you're into Boomer Shooters there's these new kids called New Blood Interactive that like to make throwback shooters, Dusk and Amid Evil stand out as pretty great.
There was a new Ace Combat game in 2019 that returned to Strangereal if you're into arcade combat flight games. Dead Rising 1 got a PC port, 3D Realms published a Build-Engine shooter from voidpoint called Ion Fury that was pretty alright.
Desperados just got a new game, and there are a bunch of substitute games like Insurgency if you're looking to shoot fuckers in a game that isn't Counter Strike or Battlefield.
There's some decent stuff, you just kind of have to dig.
